1999 zx7r no start

Okay so we bought this bike and it would not start, I took it apart an found owner had the firing order wrong plus the coils wired wrong. number 2 plug had a broken plug boot at the 90 were it threads into the plug wire. drained old gas out of carbs an tank put new gas in and the bike fired up after few cranks, bike idled nice and sounded strong but when you drove it the bike had very little power. so I had sent the carbs out to have a stage 2 jet kit an cleaning done. now bike will not start an seems like it has weak spark, not sure if I had messed the plugs up by riding it or do I simply just need new plug wires because they are the oem that came with the bike. it sat for two years before we bought it im hoping its as simple as new wires. also I charge the battier inside on a charger that cycles the battier so we always try it with a strong battier. it has all new plugs from when I did the original tune up last fall an had it running plus all new oil, filters an coolant

SOURCE: Ninja 250 wont start

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially:

  • check for the presence of IGN+12 on one of the terminals of the ignition coil;
  • check that the other terminal has a pulsating voltage when cranking;
  • verify that all connectors are plugged in tight and no corrosion on the pins/terminals specially on the pulser wires;
  • exercise the sidestand and spray WD40 on the sidestand switch;
  • ensure that the neutral light is lit when starting;
  • exercise the clutch lever and spray WD40 on the clutch switch;
  • try starting with the clutch lever pulled.

Please postback results of tests.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 1992 kawasaki Vulcan 750 stops running

Sounds like what you realy need to do is remove the carb jets and give them a good clean , this if I am right is the twin V 8 valve engine with twin Klhein carbs , make sure also your air filter is not dirty and check tank fuel filter ,, other than that you may be intrested in the manuel obtainable from this site

Check the intake manifold/s, even a small leak will make it run poor. Being stored for five years then putting it into use, you may have a blocked main jet. Sea-foam is a great product and I would have used that product to store the bike but not to get it running. It is slow acting so it doesnt work like carb cleaner.

Took the distributor out and cleaned it then put it back in and now the truck wont crank but tries to do so. need some tips please

Did you take out the ENTIRE Distributor or just the cap?

If you took out the entire Distributor, and put it back in, there is a possibility that you put it in backwards. The bottom of the Distributor has a 'notch' in it. If you turn it 180 degrees the wrong way, and put it back in, your truck will not start, because it is in effect 180 degrees out of alignment with the timing.

If you only took out the cap, refer to your owners manual (Hanes is best) for the plug wire placement in reference to the firing order, and make sure all the plug wires are in the correct locations. Also, make sure your plug wires are seated all the way down onto the plugs, and the cap is secured tightly onto the base of the Distributor.

Make sure your Coil Wires are also seated properly to the coil and the Distributor.

Clean the battery connections. Remove the battery connections, clean them and reinstall.

I have a yamaha dirt bike that someone stole and

Check the igniter. Go back to the dealer and ask him to see one. Then go back and find it on your bike. Yamaha's usually have them under the seat, or left side. But I don't know exactly what year you have. Run the VIN on the frame under my tips and tricks is a web site that'll break it down for you.

Getting firing code error for cylinders 1,3 & 5 on my 1999 Sonata

I was wrong about the distributor being round (I was thinking about my other car). I found variations about the firing order but after troubbleshooting, varified the plug wiring order from the front of the car is 1 - 4 - 5 - 2 - 3 - 6 not 1 - 4 - 5 - 2 - 6 - 3 found on several web sites. From the front of the car looking at the engine, the back three cylinders by the firewall going from left to right are 1, 3, 5. The front three are 2, 4 & 6.

Getting my bike started

Hi,
The # 1 cyl is on the left side as you are sitting on the bike. Firing order does not really apply to these motors as the coils fire twice per cyl. The left coil will fire 1 & 4 the right coil will fire 2 & 3. I usually hook them up as follows: Left outer to #1, Left inner to #4, Right inner to #2, and Right outer to #3
