Electical failure when accelerating

Starts and idles fine but when I accelerate it feels strangled for power then it cuts out can not start as no power to starter button then in a couple of seconds ignition light comes back on and will start and run but with same problem when accelerating.Other symptons are a noise coming from left hand side panel when ignition is first turned on possibly something in the ignition circuit.

Measure the charging system.Battery, regulator/rectifier and stator output volts.At 3000rpm you should see on your battery 13,5-14,5V with your high beams on.Your battery disconnected should show 12,5V.

I have a 97 grand am gt with 3.1 idles fine but normal acceleration and cruise is nearly impossible. Bogs down at all speeds. Hard acceleration is fine goes good.
I had the same problem with my 89 grand am it was caused by a faulty crank position sensor. Initially it would cut out when accelerating and eventually wouldn't start at all, replaced the sensor runs great again.

Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?
