Speedo, turn signals, brake lights, horn stopped working. All else is fine.

What is the proper spark plug setting for a 1999 harley davidson sportster xl 1200 custom? My 1999 HD Sportster 1200, while I was riding last evening, the speedometer went dark (no illumination) and none of the turn signals would flash and the horn stopped working, too. The front turn signals illuminate but do not flash. The rear turn signals don't illuminate at all, and the stoplight does not come on when the brakes are applied. The speedometer froze at just over 60 mph. Could it be fuses, flasher relay, or something else I should look at? The bike runs fine, just no speedo, turn signals, horn, or brake lights. Thanks.

Gap your plugs to 38 thou. Check all your bulbs (one burned out will affect the rest) Take a look at all your fuses and make sure they are all ok. Otherwise you are probably looking at a wiring short which will require trouble shooting of the elctrical system. Buy your self a service manual for your bike, this will help you a lot.

Hi, Daniel for this scenario you will need your service manual that has all fastener torque specs -fluid capacities and a wiring diagram on the back pages, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can not find the best tool you ever bought for your Harley, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

Brake lights, turn signal and horn not working...

Check the wiring within the headlight shell--look for connectors that may be corroded or pulled loose. A little WD-40 will favor connection integrity when sprayed into the connectors, then coupling and uncoupling them several times. Hope this helps!
