Check fuel flow to carb, if getting free flow to carb the main jet is most likely blocked or the float is stuck. Either one will require removing the carb and cleaning, not difficult but you need to be careful. The hardware is usually soft and will strip easily. You MAY be able to remove the float bowl with the carb still on the bike by loosening the air filter duct clamp and clamps or bolts on the head side, then turning the carb to access the float bowel screws.

Testimonial: "Thanks, I've concluded that I have to clean the carb. I bought a repair manual online last week. I can't find anyplace to buy a rebuild kit but I have found a place that I can buy all of the internal parts. So I'll take it apart and clean everything. If something doesn't look right I can buy the part. It may be easier to just buy the two needles. I also found a place that will manufacture the needles specifically and they claim they work better than the OEM parts. The carb isn't connected to the top of the engine with a gasket, it's connected with a rubber boot. That should make it easier to remove and replace. Oh ya I can buy a new carb for $506, - That's not happening!!"

SOURCE: motor bike wont rev above idle weth choke on

This to me sounds like you need a carb cleaning. If you have let the bike sit for an extended time the carberators maybe clogged or gummed up. This has to do with the new gas that is out there now. It is cheap and with the introduction of Ethanol alcohol now it is even worse on being stable for long periods of time. I have seen fuel go bad in as little as 3 weeks.. One quick check you can do is open you fuel tank and smell the fuel. IF it smells like varnish it is probably bad. You can drain the tank and add new fuel and that should solve your problem. Keep in mind, that the carbs need to be drained as well to get the old fuel out of there also. Make sure you have a battery charger going when you start crankin that puppy, because you will need lots of extra juice to get that baby to fire up. If it is starting now and runs on choke, that means your idle jets are clogged. Best repair is to remove carbs and clean idle jet. Unless it is fuel injected.
Let me know how that goes and we can proceed from this point. I am a certified mechanic from MMI as well as a HDTV GURU. Smiles. have a good one.

SOURCE: wont accelarate

you didnt say if the bike sat up for a while, if it has you have stopped up carbs the bike will run with the choke on but shut off when the choke is off says no fuel going thru the low speed jets clean them by taking the float bowls off and blowing them out with high pressure air

2001 gmc jimmy 4.3l.idles low and will stall when put into gear unless engine is reved up a little.

Clean the Idle air control valve (IAC), it's located by the throttle body so the best thing to do is give the throttle body a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner. Do not use carb cleaner, it's to corrosive for the gaskets used on the throttle body's. Just follow the instruction on the spray can and after your done putting everything back together. Turn the ignition key's to the run position for 10 seconds and then off for 10 seconds to reset the IAC. Start the engine and let idle for 1 min and go for a test drive. If that does not work, turn the ignition to the run position and pull the ecm(BATT) fuse out for 30 seconds and then place it back in start te engine. The engine may stall but let it, don't touch anything. Just start it again and let idle for 1 min then go for a test drive. The ECM is just relearning the sensors like the first time the jimmy was driven off the assembly line. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted be glad to get your jimmy running 100%.

I got a 1990 Suzuki GSX750F Katana, the problem is that when I pull the choke out and start it up it will idle, now if I take right off it rides great, but when I come to a stop or hold the clutch long...

It still sounds like it still running rich. If it doesn't have any performance mods like aftermarket exhaust it wont like the stage 3 kit. The stage 3 kit should be install if it has high performance exhaust and k&n pods instead of an airbox and filter. Or the floats may be stuck or improperly adjusted.

97 TL 1000 won't start after winter storage

Install new sparkplugs. Activate choke. Do not touch throttle. Push starter button. Do not touch throttle. If bike stalls repeat until it stays running, then you may give it a little throttle. If I give my TL any throttle on start up it floods. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries where the bike starts then stalls before it stays running. DO NOT TOUCH THROTTLE UNTIL IT IDLES. THEN GENTLEY.
