It may be, the best way to check a line voltage thermostat like the aqua stat is take a multi-meter on AC volts (120), when the thermostat is or should be demanding heat put the meter across the screws, if you read more than 20-30 volts for certain the stat is worn out. A functioning aqua stat when checking across the terminals should read but a few volts whether the system is 120 or 24 volts, on low voltage it's even more critical to limit voltage drop through a set of contacts.
SOURCE: Hi! I have a problem
you may have many probs... 1 a poir boiler combustion. (not boiling the water) or just warming it up so it's not hot...that would mean your temperature sensor is broken or you have probs with the actual combustion process.. This could be an unsafe situation ..i would call a heating specialist right away.

If you start by looking on your gas valve, you should find the correct amperage to set the heat anticipator at. I am not sure if you have a forced hot water system or a steam system, but depending on the case, you may also have a second problem, which is easily addressed. If you have forced hot water, the upstairs baseboard/radiators may be airbound and need to be bleed. If you have steam, you may need to slow down the downstairs valves, and open the upstairs valves to get a balance. Hope this helps

Take off the thermostat and jump the red and white wires together. The boiler should fire up. If not, you will need to check if the boiler has power to the control. It could be a fuse that burnt.

Hello The easy way to bring the blower on for heating is if the thermostat has an ELECTRIC heat function or selector switch. That will bring on FAN during a call for heat. The aquastat won't be used.
