My dad has a 2005 30th anniversary edition and they light up.
I have add on lights I found at chrischrome.com item #18211 Illuminated rider controls.

They are pretty much peal and stick. you will want a heat gun or hair dryer.
It has a control to adjust illumination on the right handlebar, where it plugs into the brake light switch for power.

when I turn on my cruise it says ON. When I press Set It says Cruise set. when I let off the throttle, cruse is not engaged?
also I have visualy checked the wiring going to cruise and don't see a problem?
