This is the order in which you should check the following

  1. Check fuses(If all are good,Continue down the list)
  2. Check for power from the stator while turning the engine over(If you have power continue down the list)
  3. Check coil (Check voltage input while turning engine over)(if no voltage continue down the list)
  4. Check CDI (The only way to test is to try on another atv of the same year and model)

Cant get fire on plug for a 200 bear tracker 4 wheeler
When checking for spark at the plug make sure the outer metal part of the sparkplug is grounded to the engine, make sure the main ignition switch is on, make sure the emergency switch on the handle bar is set to the start position and make sure the atv is in neutral.
After checking all these things above and it still fails to fire or spark at the plug then check all or any wiring, wiring connections and or connectors that you have intentionally or unintentionally disconnected while woking on the atv and also check all the fuses.
If all these check out as good and the atv still won't fire at the plug you will need to test other things such as the igntion coil, pickup coil but you will need a volt/ohm meter and the specifications for these in order to test them.
In order to get this information go to the Yamaha ATV Forum and you will see a sticky note posted by oxidized_black in regard to Yamaha Service Manuals go through each page until you get to a download LINK for a 1999-2001 Yamaha Bear Tracker YFM 250XL(C) Service manual link. Click on that LINK and download the PDF file to your computer this should provide you with more than enough information to test and find your ATV problem.

Yamaha yfm 350 warrior wont keep idle
Replace the idle jet (don't clean) with a new one from a Yamaha OEM only $5.00 & make sure the idle mixture adjustment on the bottom of the carb. is set 3 1/2 turns out from seated in (a brass screw ---Don't over tighten & break off the needle tip). Also , be sure the choke is all the way off or it won't idle either.

I have a 2002 yamaha yfm 350 warrior, how do i find the chain size on its chain? On the sprocket it simply says 40, what does this number mean?
the 40 simply states that it is a 40 tooth sprocket. The stock chain size for that atv is a 98 link 520 chain.
