2001 kawasaki bayou 220 my quad died in the middle of the woods. It stalled and the lights shut off and the starter wont work but i can pull start it and it runs fine. But again no lights, starter wont engage and the green neutral light is very dim as is the red reverse light which are very bright usually. Any suggestions?

I should have mentioned that the battery is new and is charged to 14 volts. I did think of that so i tested with my jumper pack that is fully charged and no difference. I am thinking maybe the voltage regulator went bad but i am not even sure if these have one or if i could do a test to see if it's bad.

Try to charge your battery then check to make sure the charging system

  • Anonymous May 12, 2009

the voltage regulator is part of the charging system so if the battery is charged it should run until the battery dies. if you go through alot of mud try to take each wire connection apart and clean it with contact cleaner and put electrcal greese in and reconnect do them all this will take some time but even if it doesnt fix your problem it a good thing to do.

I have a 185 kawasaki bayou atv. the neutral light won't come on,you got to hold the shifter down alittle .how can i fix this? will not start untill it is on.it it is a 1986

I had a similar problem. pull start worked no problem, and starter only sometimes. turns out the starting system as a whole (starter, old wires, solenoid etc) were drawing so much power that it wasn't allowing much for power for the coil and spark. it was too weak

No key for our kawasaki bayou 220

On the Bayou 220 you have 2 wires from the Ignition Switch. If I was you I would wire them 2 to a toogle switch or push bottom start.
