I went to start my 2001 yz125 an on about the third kick the kick start locked up. i took it apart an tried it again still the same thing have you seen this before an if so could u tell me what it mite be

try resetting the fuel pump safety switch.

Jeff your almost there....it must be the shifter into third....it must not slide fully into third....check for wear marks on the worm gear....and try running it without the protective cover on to see how it changes from 1st, into 2nd, then third...that mechanisim if not engaging totally in third.

1). Confirm that the transmission is really in nuetral, or insure that the clutch is pulled in.

2). Have you tried removing the spark plug to insure that you do not have a hydraulic lock due to excess fuel in the cylinder? With spark plug removed, any excess fuel should be expelled out the open spark plug hole. CAUTION: INSURE THAT THE SPARK PLUG LEAD IS DISCONNECTED, AND HELD AWAY FROM THE OPEN CYLINDER TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL IGNITION OF EXCESS FUEL.

Sounds like it could be as simple as a fouled plug. Change the spark plug and try it again. Lugging a 125 around fouls plugs really easily, you have to open it up and clean it out occasionally.

Kick it on the otherside,,,,,, Perhaps your starter motor brushes got jammed, well off to a repair shop or if daring take that motor apart.

What does removed plug look like??

Is the plug correct for this bike, very important.

Sorry to tell you.The motor seized and needs a rebuild.Not to many other options.You gave a very good description of what happened.Hope this helps

If the transmission was recently changed it should be covered under some form of warranty and they should fix it for free.

First push the last two buttons on the right on the keypad and see if that locks all locks. If it does not then it sound like there is an intermittent transmitter switch that has gone out, Have a friend engage - disengage until you locate the sound you describe and locate that switch, Pull it and take it to the dealership. Replace it and you should be back in business.

The timing isn't adjustable on these models. The yz125 is very simple, everything bolts into place, and anything that is adjustable has huge alignment marks. Generally when this happens, something in the stator assembly has failed or malfunctioned, so you will have to narrow it down and replace it.
