Trans fluid ed in coolant bottle did flush and two week brown oily goo in bottle

Flush coolant system again. Do you have a brown sludge in the oil. Do this get Preston coolant flush, drain radiator drain coolant tank, fill radiator with water, add the Preston run vehicle for about 15 min remove lower radiator hose from radiator. This will allow all residue to be removed from engine. Replace radiator hose. Fill radiator with appropriate amount of coolant. Disconnect tank from system and let water run through tank until it is clear. Reconnect tank and you should be good. Unless you have oil and coolant mixed which means a blown head gasket or cracked block

Radiator and water container

If you have a auto it may be transmission oil from the oil cooler in the radiator. Having changed the radiator may have removed the original fault but there would be still ,oil in the coolant system that is still coming out. Have the system professionally flushed by a reputable radiator shop and then have the cooler tested in the radiator.

1995 saturn! new water pump, and coolant. Changed alternator, and battery, changed oil, oil filter. noticed oily substance in overflow container. did a radiator flush, still has red, rusty color somet

Coolant is oil based. The oily mess in the overflow could be very old coolant. Or it could be engine oil from a leaking head gasket.
The rusty stuff on the floor inside the car could be from a leaking heater core.

I have a 2004 Cherokee and there is coolant in the transmission. Any idea how it got there?

No coolant is suppose to be in transmission. How it got there is easy, you radiator has transmission lines running through the bottom of it. Your radiator has an internal leak into those trans lines. You'll probably find oily substance in coolant also.

I have changed the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor but it still over heats. what else can I try?

It may be the radiator. Please check the coolant recovery tank too make sure it does not look oily, plus be sure that you have NO coolant in your oil too.

These are cheapy single core radiators, that clog quit easily especially, if you add any stop leak. They are very difficult to flush and really not worth having repaired. Start off with a fresh readiator. Should take about 3 hours to take apart and put back together.

Why do i got trans fluid in my radiator it over heats and oily water comes out

The radiator has a trans cooler built in to it. The trans cooler is apparently bad and leaking trans fluid into the radiator coolant. You need a new radiator and a complete cooling system flush along with a trans flush. If you continue to operate the vehicle you take the chance of damaging the engine and transmission. Your looking at a minimum of $400 to replace the radiator and flushing both systems. But a transmission replacement can cost upwards of $3000 or more not to mention engine damage. Have this done asap.

Oily coolant 2

Hi myxj87 -

It is possible that you have motor oil leaking into your cooling system. A common cause of this condition is a bad head gasket. Since both coolant and oil flow through the cylinder head (through their respective passages), a bad head gasket would allow for cross-contamination. Does the car still run well? Have you noticed any coolant in the oil whilst doing oil changes?
