Hotwiring it wont do as it probably has a steering colum lock too. meaning you wont be able to steer it. call a tow company and tow it home if you cant find the key

Hi

If the reason you're messing with the ignition switch is because the key is lost, then the best thing to do is go to the dealer with your title. The parts department has a factory key cutter that cut keys using a code which they cross reference from the vin number. They also need proof of ownership before they can cut you the key. Making a key anywhere else they use the old key for a pattern and all you get is another copy of a worn out key that doesn't work.

There are anti-theft bolts that secure the lock assembly to the column and they need to be drilled out and then replaced with new bolts. You're going to need a new key to turn the lock to remove the tumblers so try the dealer code cutter before tearing the dash apart

Cheapest way would be to really look for a locksmith that can either reproduce your original keys manually(handmade) or through machine that can regenerate your original keys otherwise you'll have to replace new sets of door keys locking mechanism and new set of ignition switch that may be adopted to your steering columns locking devices.

SOURCE: The key won't turn in

if the key wont turn, how can you steer it? or does the steering wheel turn ok? is the key bent? towing to a locksmith may be better, or they can come to the car.

SOURCE: Hi I have 2003 Rav4,

for a start, the transponder KEY, HAS to be coded into the car to start it.the remote is a seperate item but works in conjunction with the key.buying a seperate system is a waste of money,as it CANNOT be used in conjunction with the fitted system.buy a remote and get it coded with the spare(s) into the car, by a dealer that can do the job.the alarm works this way....the remote has TWO codes one fixed the other rolling, every time you operate it the rolling code changes(stops others from "learning")the fixed code allows the key to be recognised when put into the ignition and start the car(if the remote battery goes flat you can still start the car with the key but the alarm may sound if the doors have been locked by the remote).without the remote/key the car is effectively dead.stops theives from stealing your car cos they need to replace the whole ingnition system to get it going.

Lost my keys and need to know how to hot wire a dodge neon 2000

You won't be able to do so, according to the link below. It states that it uses an electronic Security System that prevents it.

Instead, contact a dodge dealer, and you will need to provide proof of ownership to them to obtain a new key.

Lost keys have hot wired it wont start but does turn over wants to go what do i do

Take your title to the dealer, they should be able to make you a key, also do you hot wire hot to ACC/ON hit Start, then release back to on when it turns over? It may not run if you have anti-theft.
