Cold choke always, three twists of throttle, find TDC & kick! Should start 1st or 2nd kick. Change your sparkplug to NGK cr8e-k, twice as much spark, grab a couple you'll need them. If you start it & it warms up & stalls change the plug it will be fouled. Give it a couple of big revs just before you shut it down to prevent this

HOW DO YOU FIX A HARD STARTING YAMAHA 426

Clean the carb. Bear in mind that a new carb costs $1300 or so. Don't drop it. Install fresh spark plug, NGK R CR8E. Get a new air filter. Be sure the battery is in good condition. Don't twist the throttle more than once when cold. Not at all when it is warm. A power valve in the carb squirts gas into the cylinder with every twist. Flooding with gas is quick and easy on this bike.

Can any one tell me how to check oil on a 2001 yamaha yzf 426. just bought the bike and when cold i check oil with dip stick dar is no oil on it. and a few people told me you have to warm it up for a...

426! Check and add when it's cold.Oil will expand when it's hot. There is not a lot of oil in the engine, so the tank takes up any minor diffs. The tank supplies the motor with oil and a slight under or overfill will occur. The main thing is, if the tank has oil.Oil is cheaper than metal.Just make sure the tank has oil in it.Tank has oil.Engine has oil.Hope this helps
