I need to shange out the starter on my 1100 Goldwing Interstate. I have very little maintenace experience.
Can I get the step-by-step instructions?
Look on the left side just above the shifter leaver, two 8 mm bolts, one at teh top, one at the bottom back. make sure you disconnect the battery before remove the power cable. once it's loose, push it back, then pull it out.
These are not hard to remove at all. You disconnect the battery, remove the battery cable from the starter, and remove the 2 starter bolts which I thimk are 10mm. then you slide it out. If you want more room to work, remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head. 10mm also. Lots of these starters are not bad, but need cleaned, etc., so i would have it checked before I buy a new one. Also make sure your battery connections and cable ends are clean as well. Hope this helps, Rick
