KX60 2001,losing oil from crank casing and won't start.

Hi there, I bought the KX60 about six months ago from a guy who said that the bike hadn't been used for about a year. The bike started a think the second time he tried and its sounded good, we checked over the bike and everything seemed fine. When we got it home it was for a xmas present and we put it in the garage for the 4wks until xmas. During that time all the oil had leaked out the bottom of the bike, we have now noticed a small crack under what I think is the crank casing. This may sound silly but should the bike start even without oil? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi mate take it to a descent welder who can weld aluminium and when welded fill it back up with light gear oil and also the bike will start with no oil but if ran too long the gearbox will seize and will cost you a engine rebuild normally 300 pounds ++ so get it sorted asap good luck

Hi!

Well, first of all, YES it will start without any oil at all, but in a few minits it will be damaged badly inside the engine. The oils has nothing to do if it starts or not.
Now to that crack youve got under the bike, well its damn expenisve to buy a new casing, BUT you dont need to buy one:) the crack can be WELD:) thats something you cant do yourself. Take the bike to someone good at welding and he will fix it for you in notime:) and its cheap to do it. DO NOT drive the bike before you fill it up with new oil, dont even start it up again without any oil in it, that can be very expensive to do that if you are unlucky.

Good luck
Nic

2005 Kawasaki Ninja EX250 Bought it as is Guy who had it fell off and all plastics broke Bike was sitting for 4 years Bike cranks over and And starts If you give it full throttle and hold it at full...

It sounds like you have seriously over-filled the oil. This is not a good idea and can cause seals to blow out, blow by at the piston rings and in severe cases, possibly bent connecting rods. Drain the oil off and fill to spec. Sometimes they give the oil capacity on the side of the engine, in ml. measurement. For example a bike I have says: 1600ml If you don't know the conversion into quarts and can't find it anywhere on the internet, you can buy a cheap measuring container that has a metric reading on it.
I hope this helps you out, Good luck!

I just put a brand new battey in my 95 katana but it still.loses power and dies and wont start

Sounds like your regulator/rectifier has failed. This is a fairly common fault on GS and GSX models, particularly the smaller capacity (below 750cc) models. Did the oil level fall below minimum at any time, because this can cause the generator on some models to overheat, causing a power surge which can burn out the regulator. Get the generator checked and fit a new regulator/rectifier.

Clinking noise oil overflow from crank case constant leak

Well what can I say except you have a blocked oil passage that need a good cleaning.
Have you talked to your local dealer for probable cause.Do an top half overhaul if you want but best is to do it overall.

I also have a c109RT 2008 I bought 2 month ago w same issue...

Suzuki are correct as it isn't a warranty issue, you pay for delivery in which case the oil levels are filled and checked by the dealer. This in my opinion a dealer warranty because they seem to have stuffed up. Frankly it is a bit hard to prove so if I were you I would have the oil drained and refilled to the correct level (Even using the same oil) by another shop. Try asking the dealer to do it first, you no ask you no get. If that doesn't work go somewhere else, if enough people do this it will hurt them in the long run.

KX60 2001,losing oil from crank casing and won't start.

it could start without oil..... but the amount of damage you would likely do to it makes it very unwise. if all the oil leaked out there was oil in it when it was started before. if i'm not mistaken that case is aluminum. if you can find someone that does tig welding (i think it's tig for aluminum).... they could probably weld that crack without taking the motor apart..... just a thought.

please take a moment to rate this solution.. thanks

Wont fire turns over faster than normal

if you still havent started the bike yet from sitting.then i dont think the choke has anything to do with your problem.but ether way take the plugs out.I think your piston rings are frozen from sitting.did u winterrize it?with the plugs out pour a little auto trans fluid in each cylinder.very little.now crank the bike over to coat the cylinders. becareful it could be messy now let the bike sit overnight.the next day crank bike over again.but this time for a few tries.then install fresh plugs.and try to start it.p.s there will be white smoke from the transmission fluid. that will go away in a couple of minutes.then all should be good.
