Shifting problem 96 1400 Intruder 4 speed

I have a 1996 1400 Intruder 4 sp,I let a guy ride it and after that i've had problems on the down shift, sometimes I can only get down into 3rd.The clutch seemed fine but I replaced the complete clutch and still have the problem.Have I got bent forks and if so can I get at them from the side? It shifts just fine when cold and going slow.Help,John

Yes, the bad news is bent shift forks. The engine comes out and dissassembles into about 75 different parts. The gears come out, the the shift drum, then the forks. Not a job for the Saturday mechanic.

By the way, don't be too hard on your buddy. A shift fork can bend at any time. Grandma could be riding a bike and bend a shift fork.

Suzuki Intruder 1400 1996, First to Second Gear is harsh!

Change the fluid in the clutch reservoir, bleed out the remaining fluid.(keep it full as you go) Should be dot 4 fluid not dot 3. U may need to rebuild the master cylinder or replace it.

?how much oil or what kind of oil do i use for my shaft ?

should be a dipstick on the underside of the filler cap or look a little lower down the crankcase cover for a small round viewing window
