2001 Hyundia Sonata changed 4 alternators in 6 months, figure it has to be something else. Car will start and run fine and then will die while driving. Will start up again sometimes on its own and sometimes after a jump. 2 days ago the car dies and would not take a jump, then towed car to shop and started fine. Mechanics could not find anything wrong after running a diagonstic. Determined that is is the battery. Any suggestions? Does this seem correct?

Two ways the the battery was the problem:
1. It was not the right voltage battery installed.
2. It was a faulty battery...which is very possible.
As of right now, you Sonata runs, correct?

Testimonial: "Yes, I left it at the shop and told him I would call tomorrow to let him know if I wanted the battery replaced"

SOURCE: 2000 Dodge Stratus SE stalling and not restarting

Has anyone checked the starter? Is the motor spinning over when its "not starting",as you say? If not,Then you need to do a battery/starter/alternator check and make sure they are all functioning properly to begin with. It burns me up when mechanics just "throw parts" at a car because they have no idea,or dont take the time to figure out whats REALLY wrong with it.

Battery tested no good, replaced it, next day battery wont start car, noticed blown fuse at postive terminal, replaced it, jump started car, working fine ...... Question, will that fuse prevent battery...

the fuse must be 'intact' for electrical system to operate properly.batteries are rated in months as far as longevity is concerned,36 mo. 60 mo. etc. if you have or have access to a volt meter, battery voltage should be 12 volts with engine off,13 to 15 volts w/ engine running indicates alternator is working.

My echo 2001 car battery died, we replaced it the next day and it died as well. We had our alternator checked and it looked fine. The car runs fine after it has been jump started but dies when it is turned...

Check the battery cables at both ends. There's a good chance there's corrosion preventing the charge from the alternator from charging the battery. If the cables are fine then check the connection at both the solenoid and the alternator and make sure they are clean and grounded.

1989 Cadillac Eldorado 4.5L runs perfect and dies

Your alternators should have a warranty on them...but if your car is breaking alternators, you may have the wrong size belt...maybe to small and putting to much strain on your alternator.
