SOURCE: dripping oil from weep hole at the bottom of from

The oil seal on the water pump is bad. You will have to remove the front cover to replace the seal. K & L makes a gasket kit for your machine that has all the gaskets and seals to repair the leak for around $25 US. You may want to replace the water pump ($125) at the same time. That should guarantee that you will never have to take the front cover off again.

2001 2500 silverado 6.0 where is the weep hole?

It is the water pump, i would buy a new thermostat also, you can buy a water pump that comes with a new stat and housing, that is the best way i think and that is the way i do them.

These water pumps are big looking but are very easy to replace, i will tell you that when they leak it is very, very hard to see the weep hole, the area you say yours is leaking is the pump so sure, this waterpumps leak at the mating gasket where the pump meets the block or weep hole, any way it is the waterpump.

you will see the new one , how they put the weep hole it flows through the housing to leak out when bad but hard to see.

hope this is helpful.

Leaking coolant but no crack in reservoir or radiator hoses

If it's leaking from center front of engine compartment it's likely to be waterpump. Waterpumps have a small hole called weep hole for early warning when waterpump seal fails leaks coolant into bearing.

Antifreeze leaks from waterpump after driving

Sounds to me like the shaft seal has failed on your water pump and you need to replace the pump, theres usually a tiny hole either at the bottom of the water pump or at the top of the pump its called the weep hole, when coolant comes out of this hole it means the internal shaft seals of the pump have failed and it requires replacement of the pump, now if the coolant is coming out of where the pump bolts onto the engine block you propbably only need the waterpump to block gasket to fix the leak, check and see exactly where the coolant is coming out from so you can be sure exactly what you need to replace....

Just replaced the water pump due to a leak not on it but behind the pump. I was told the leak was a tatle tale showing i needed a new pump. I still have anti freeze coming out behind it. any ideas?

The pump does have a weep hole in it. If a seal in the pump fails coolant will come out of the weep hole. Looks like you may have a bad water pump seal, but check gaskets, intake manifold and hoses as these can leak in this area as well. So determine where the coolant is coming from before investing in a new waterpump.

Water leakking from 5mm hole on side of water pump ford transit 1997

This is called a weep hole and it indicates the rubber seal is now leaking antifreeze onto the waterpump bearing and it's only a matter of time before the waterpump falls change the waterpump.

Water leak/waterpump problem

The water pump is where the alternator pulley and radiator fan is connected. It has a hole on its body called "weep hole". If the seal and bearings are already worn out, coolant can be seen leaking at this hole. To replace it, you will have to remove the upper radiator hose, the fan blades, and the alternator pulley. Just unbolt the old one, clean the mating surfaces, install a new gasket, then install the new pump.
