Bad fuel in my 2005 suzuki drz 400

The bike was stored for the winter with no fuel treatment and the carb not drained (i know what a ********* ) well it gets worst we where messing around with the bike trying to get it cleand out and had it running once but only on full throttle and with the choke fully opened and boy did it blow some smoke then it staled and we couldent get it started again well we left it over night and this morning the starter was turned over twice and locked up come to find out my buddy left the fuel pepcock in the pri position and filled the cylender and all with gas and to make maters worse i checked the dip stick for the oil and it was dry (it was full befor we started last night ) so now i know what the smoke was from this bike is in otherwise mint condition it only has 1090 miles all highway on it if i drain the oil completely and liet it sit over night will it be ok or have i caused more damage the starter turns over fine know
as for the gas i will take the bike to the mcacanic and let him clean out the carb and tank so my questin is more for piese of mind did i cause a more serius problem with the gas in the cylender
thanks for your help

we dumped all the fuel and oil out of the frame and case and and ran
about a gallon of clean oil through it till all the gas was gone then
put a new filter and oil and sent it to the bike shop a friend of mine
owns he will give it a good going over he thinks its allright just
needs to have the carb cleaned but he will give it a good looking over

thanks for the help every one i was gonna tackel this myself but after
i posted the question i realized it was out of my leage im better at
    breaking than fixing

You caused "hydraulic lock" in the cylinder. You will know if you've done serious damage when you check the big and small ends of the conrod. That means removal of the top end.

If you can get the oil problem and let the gas evaporate, then Berrymans B12 fuel additive should take care of the gum in the carb, double the dose run til hot turn off let sit overnight then try it next morning. if you was burning oil then it has to be the oil ring maybe reving it full trhottle and it running too lean overheated it. i would put more oil in and try it and see what happens. lets face it i dont think it can make anything worse.. dont know what country you are in for the berrymans, but you can get it in the USA

Metal flakes in the motor oil on a drz 400

How many hours on bike? How many metal flakes? There will always be some metal flakes in oil. On new bike you will see more during a break in period. May or May not be a problem depending on the amount of metal flakes and hours on engine

My vstar 100 has run great for me since I bought new in 2005. nThe first couple winters the bike sat for 2 months and the techs at the shop told me that the gas (Even though I had out stabilizer in it) was...

The trick is to get out there and fire it up every week and run it for several minutes. Short of doing that - turn the fuel off and run the carbs out of gas before storing. Drain the old fuel out in the spring and refill with fresh fuel. You can add some fuel system cleaner/drier to the fresh fuel. Personally - I simply run the bike every week and add some fuel drier - like STP fuel treatment during winter months. I have never been a fan of the fuel stabilizers - unless you are talking about a huge volume of fuel, like on a boat. Running the bike every week keeps the battery charged, too.

I MY SISTER HAS 2006 SUZUKI INTRUDER, EVERY YEAR IN THE SPRING HER MOTOR CYCLE HAS TO HAVE A TUNE UP. IT BACK FIRES, RUNS ROUGH, MISFIRE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF SHE COULD USE A FUEL ADDITIVE OR NOT. ALSO...

Hi, is this after the bike has been away for the winter, these bikes Are designed to run on modern fuels, the intruder normaly runs fine , good advice would be to replace the spark plugs and drain the fuel from the carburettor float bowls by undoing the drain screws in the bottom of each carb, prior to using the bike after the winter, you may also check the condition of the air filter located on the left hand side of the engine under the chrome cover

Drz 400 sm starts but i cant give it any gas or it dies

Can you slowly increase the revs? It sounds like an accelerator pump or debris in the carb.
