Wiring problem gilera sc 125 motorbike (derbi gpr 125)

The digital rev counter, centre dash does not work, yet every other light and gauge does

I have 1 wire coming from the back of the rev counter (its a yellow wire with a violet stripe) its singular to the rest of the loom that comes from the ''dashboard'' and is directed into the main bike body alongside the bulk of the wires but on its own.
when earthed, the rev counterflickers up and down but not constant with revs...
i have had the bike to pieces and can almost assue you that there is not 1 single connector that is broken or 1 single connector block that is missing a wire

please help...

hi thanks for getting back to me!

    i really do appreciate it

the rev counter (which is one whole unit with the digital speedo, the digital petrol gague and 4 lights for netural, high beam, temp and oil) is connected at the back with a 12 or more pin white connector block then from that 11 (a guess) wires are taped togetha to make a loom and fed into the main bike body to connect to another, bigger electrical connector that makes up the rest of the wiring loom. along side this 1st loom is 1 wire (the troublesum one) on its own, and rarther than taped, its in a plastic tube but gose in the same direction into the bike.

the wire is then just bared off at the bike end rarther than having a connector on it or spade connector etc.

I have had the bike stripped down to a frame and bare components and i can assure you that there is NOT ONE connector block missing a wire OR component missing a wire i.e. a connector connected to sumthing yet no wire

i have spoken to the garage where i bought it from and he said to me that thee las who sold him the bike mentioned the wire and said "it just earths to the engine to make the rev counter work"

now going on this advice i have tried earthing the wire to the engine in nemorous places and all that happens is that the red oil light comes on

inside the back of the rev gauge etc as regards your question, its just one big circuit board that looks completly fine...and, like i said, when earthed to the frame the rev counter dose flicker

i am lost... i am inches away from putting my dream bike on ebay or breakingit and selling the parts!!

Wrap the wire round the Ht lead two or three times, it induces a signal to the Rev Counte, the wire does not have to be bare or connected to anyting other than wrapped around the lead..

I have a GPR 50 Nude, that I am getting reddy for my sons 16th birthday.. I stripped it polished the frame and swing arm and tidied up the wiring. The wire you have dangling was wrapped round the HT lead to the plug! This looked a bit untidy so I strapped it into the loom. Hey presto no rev counter! I sussed it from reading your problem. This is a sensor wire and picks up a pulse from the HT lead. Just wind it back round the HT lead and the rev counter will work again. I am a star!

How to set my Gilera sc125 clock display

The Gilera SC is the same as a Derbi GPR ,right? This is how I change the time on my Derbi Tap the button until it goes to the clock then hold it in until it starts flashing. Tap to change the hour then leave it for a second and it will move over to the minutes and cycle through, just tap it to stop on the right time. The batteries are **** though so don't expect it to keep the time, you'll find yourself having to set it nearly every time you start your bike.
