Engine Knock. Hi,My bike is a 1979 GS750E.It has done 29,000 miles from new and never been apart. It runs as new.The problem is a knocking coming from the left hand crankcase cover. It ONLY happens when the engine is under load.i.e accelerating.Reving it on the stand the engine makes no abnormal noises. It is not chain, sprockets, rear wheel or cush drive bearings.I have never heard of this problem, have you? The bike is only used on holiday once a year hence the mileage. If it was at home I could pull it apart. If I do this on holiday to find the fault it means leaving the engine open all year.which I would like to avoid if possible. Any clues at all much appreciated. Thanks Colin.

Thanks for your ideas. The oil is fine. The front sprocket nut has not come loose.Nothing outside the engine is causing the knocking.I noticed in the haynes manual there are a few bearings around the clutch basket area.I think I will buy all these and change them as a matter of course.
    Cheers Colin.

Check your oil. check to see if your front sprocket nut came loose, or anything else on that side.

I have a 2004 honda rubicon 500 it has a little knock in motor not bad at all the bike will not go pass 15 miles a hour just gave fresh oil change and spark plug

Do you have a blown head gasket and arrived, or somethings cause and the knock take off the head could be the valves go online and ask what would cause a knock in that bike is the only goes 15 miles an hour sounds like you have something blown in your motor start by taking compression test it to compressions bad that something in the cylinders. You might need. It's new rings, but it hasn't knock it could be the valves. When you take the head off, you'll see the carbon buildup can try clean in that off and put it back together. Make sure you use the proper torque don't cut any corners don't tighten it too much. That's why you need to find torque setting seasonal rate bolts, but that engine sound smoked, you may have to get it reboard. If you doing the work yourself

Check engine light went on on my 2005 chevy silverado @ 102,000 miles. Never had an issue before. But I noticed that it has been knocking lately for about 15,000 miles. Mechanic friend said not to worry,...

Hi, it could be a wiring issue. I would check for a broken connection or bare wire shorting to ground. Usually though, when the computer loses the knock sensor signal, it will ****** the timing to a safe range that will not allow the engine to knock. If you tell me which engine you have, I can give you more specific troubleshooting steps, such as the reference voltage for the circuit.

1997 LeSabre has engine "knock"

If it knocks at 50 it will knock sitting still if you race it up. Is the oil pressure good? These motors hardly ever have a bearing problem. The only knock problem was the harmonic balacer that comes apart and knocks. The rubber falls apart and it will make a knock sound all the time, more with the ac on. If you have a knock at 50 or highway speed only you may need a outer tie rod end only. Get the front end checked as they will make a knocking sound on the highway. reply

Chrysler 300 3.5 v6 Slight engine knock - oil always changed

I have a 2006 with a 3.5 (41,000 miles). No oil consumption but had the knock. Started as a slight knock and continued to get louder. My buddy works at the dealer and hooked me up. Chrysler knows about this problem, it's the rocker arm assembly coming apart. They have a new revised part to fix the problem. THEY NEED TO RECAL THIS.

1996 Avalon-Great car 200,000 miles on it. How can I disconnect or by paass Knock sensor. Check engine light comes on and I am due for inspection. Car runs great. Please advise. Thanks ****

Hello. To answer your question, the answer is no. You cannot disconnect it, bypass it or defeat it. The Knock sensor is critical to preventing detonation (valve 'ping'). Sorry that I do not have abetter answer, but, the Knock is indeed important.
