I have a yamaha mx80 I need to order parts and a repair manual but I need to find out the year I have the vin #967-662913 but it is an older # and have had no luck finding out year. any help would be great.
I would suggest calling Yamaha customer Service (if you're in the US, the # in the US is 800-962-7926) and ask them for help in identifying your bike. I called them on Friday and they were able to tell me what I had within a couple of minutes.

The # you have actually isn't a true VIN, it's a serial #. I think it was sometime in the mid 80s before they started using real VINs. Believe it or not, there doesn't seem to be any online breakdown of what serial #s correspond to what years. I've been looking for a MX80 (an 81 was my first bike) and my local Yamaha shop has some sort of book that they've looked up a few serial #s in to tell me what year the bike was. I would assume that all Yamaha dealers have access to the same book, but won't swear to it. The dealer I speak of, and the particular person, has been there for over 25 years, so it may just be his personal knowledge.

Hi, My best guess would only be for a US made bike.
The 9 digit NSX vin was used between 1965 and 1969. The first two digits should be a model and the third would be the year, with yours indicating 1967. Back then I doubt there would be much difference in the engine from year to year. What parts do you need?
