SOURCE: 1999 Yamaha Vstar 650 Custom ...makes clicking noise when trned

i use a jump box on mine most weekends when i wanna take it out, i hook the red to battery and black onto my exhaust and it fires right up no problem. is the clicking noise coming from the fuel pump behind the ignition? it should click for a few seconds then stop. if it stays on then you are not getting enough fuel outta the tank, change the fuel filter and if bike had been stored for winter get a good fuel system cleaner, additive type. if in USA get Berrymans B12, double dose get bike to run hopefully let it stand overnight and all should be fine. fingers crossed. if is is clicking from somewhere else like starter or a relay by the battery, check all the ground terminals you can find

SOURCE: i have a 89 kawasaki ninja 250 that wont start just click

sorry to say it but the battery cannot handle the load, it may work with small things like lights and low amperage devices. but when you crank the starter motor your pulling far to many amps and the battery cannot put out meaning that the battery has a bad cell or it may just need a battery refill, today we just replace the batteries. it;s safer and a lot easier. plus you get money back for bringing in your old one. but the battery is not able to supply the proper voltage and amps anymore and should be replaced. a very simple test turn the key to run and turn your headlights on. then press the starter button see if the lights do not completely go out. if they do you have a dead battery cell. good luck with it, and thanks for using fixya

My 2006 chevy trailblazer 2wd 6cyl wont start. makes clicking noise, then nothing lights/radio etc work but wont start what is it

You got a jump and it ran fine? It's your battery. The lights and radio are much easier for a battery to handle than spinning a car engine. Again, if all you needed was a jump, you have a bad battery.

How do I get truck started after its been sitting for months

Charge up the battery with a battery charger or jump start the truck with a good battery. Connect the jumper leads from the good battery to the battery on the truck.
Connect the red lead from the + terminal on the good battery to the + (plus) terminal on the truck.
Connect the black lead from the - terminal on the good battery to the - (minus) terminal on the truck.
The good battery will supply power to the starter motor.
Then you can turn the key to start the truck.

Car wont start until i give it a jump i put new battery and had alternator checked its good. when i try to start it all it does is make clicking noise

Sounds like an intermittent Earth connection. Check all the battery and earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean and reconnect.

I have purchased a Toro zero turn mower and can't get it to start. It has gas, I charged the battery. It makes a clicking noise when I turn the key but motor won't turn over. Is there any special way to...

no,,just turn the key to start her up!,,,if the engine is free to turn i gess it has a stuck starter relay or a jamed starter, or a dirty power/earth lead or joint some were
but check that this battery you charged up is any good first if the battery has been left standing in a discharged state it wont be any good any more,,try a set of "jump leads" from a good car battery!

hi b4 renewing starter ? try this connect a jump lead to the battery negative/earth connector then the other end of lead to a suitable earth point directon engine try starting now if it works ? then problem is the batteries earth connection lead to the engine and chassis/body ? is not good or corroded/loose but by using /bypass earth direct to engine will verify this if above works as you say jump/doner battery does not work ? also check the leads/wires connected to starters solenoid are clean/secure ? this is considering age of car ?

Car wont start

Does the battery have enough capacity to turn over the engine though? Even flat car batteries will still power the radio. The best way would be to jump start the car uing a set of jumper leads. If it starts you know it is the battery that needs replacing.

If it still wont turn over then it is most likely the solenoid in your starter motor. You can often tap the starter motor with a hammer and free the solenoid as a temporary fix. The starter motor is loacted at the back of the engine on the bell housing if rear wheel drive, or around the tranmission if a front wheel drive.
