Wires are disconnected on my Kawasaki GPZ 500, I turn the key to start it, the digital fuel gage sequences then blinks and a red warning light also flashes, how can I start it? which wires do I need to connect to start it? There is no kictstart.

Phillip, the GPZ is essentially a KZ 1100. If the color codes are correct, then if you put the red and the yellow wires together, this should give you power. However, as a temporary fix only, I will give you some good replacement options that should help you out. ^^ Good luck, and hope this helps.

there's so many things it could be but if you have covered all you say thoroughly, have you checked the timing? As it is fixed the only timing you can double check is the cams and crank. do you have a manual?

The older rotors used to crack up and ruin things to do with timing but i think the D models have improved rotors.

jets sound like they are worn blocked or similar. you might have to clean it all again or try fuch's pro fst to clean them up. have you vacuum balanced them?

You need to get a good manual. I would go with the factory one, but also available is Clymer or Hayes. Look on E-Bay for some. Hope you have wiring experience.

Check the routing of the wires under the tank. Also check the wire connections. It sounds like the installation of the tank is pulling on the wires causing a momentary disconnection of a power wire.
Alternate to that, are the spark plug wires grounding against the tank?

Check the battery is fully charged for a start. Secondly i would test the starter solenoid usually found under the seat, it is identified as a square box with 2 large leads and 2 smaller wires. one of the large leads go down to starter, the other goes up to battery. very carefully cross these out, ensuring the bike is in NEUTRAL before hand. The engine should turn. If all this still fails, replace starter.
