2003 BMW F 650 GS: Battery constantly dies

Hi, I bought a 2003 f 650 gs recently. Whenever it sits more than say 3 days the battery dies. I've installed a trickle charger (900mA) but still dies if not ridden/cranked every 3-4 days. Any ideas? Am I leaving the grip heaters on (center position)? or the key on? 11o'clock position? Thanks! Pat

How old is your battery ?, you say you bought it recently, probably it was never changed, If is more than 4 tears old , you should have to replace it.

Hi,

It sounds that something is draining the power.
You need to get a multi metre (circuit tester) that can measure AMPS.

With the ignition OFF test on the battery for any amp measurement. You should get a zero reading.
If you are getting a reading, you will have follow a procedure of elimination to find the drain (disconnecting each circuit individually until the problem is found)

FURTHER, have you had an alarm fitted to the bike ?

Cheers

Jon

Hi Raymond remove the starter and power it up direct it could be the solonide sticking. Regards Jim...

No electrics on bmw f 650 gs

Check the battery and replace with a new one. If the battery is good, the harness from the ignition switch to the frame could be broken.
