SOURCE: Knock when starting up FXDC Super Glyde Custom
What you are hearing is the compensator sprocket bottoming out upon start-up. Inside your primary there is a dampening device before power is ransfered to the clutch. It is designed to give you a smoother power delivery when you let out the clutch. So its not so "grabby". Ever since 2006 when H-D first introduced the cruize dive this has been a common complaint. In truth, this noise on start-up IS normal. Higher octne fuel will not help in any way.It will only cost more.

that is not the code that is the step before the code. P= powertrain S= security SP= speedo, T= tach. using the tach button, push untill the P flashes, then push and hold, after 3- 5 seconds, the powertrain codes will display, write them down push and hold the button untill it reads clr. then let it return to the psspt screen and push to select S, press and hold for the security codes, repeat for the rest. Then buy an electrical diagnostic manual for the bike and look up what the codes mean.
