SOURCE: oil change procedure 2000 road king

the oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission in your RK. There are two drain plugs. The plug towards the front left of the pan is the oil drain plug. The other one is for the transmission.

Drain the oil, replace the filter, refill with three quarts of oil and you're ready to go. The dipstick has two marks on it. The upper mark is "FULL HOT", and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Do not overfill.

Don't forget to service the transmission and the primary at their recommended intervals.

Good Luck

SOURCE: having a problem with my 2000 Road King. The

Sounds like your speedo sensor. The magnets on it pick up little metal bits. Pull it and clean it off. If that doesn't work, you need a new sensor,--- If the needle makes the sweep when you're in diagnostic mode, all the more reason to suspect this. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: setting the timing 2002 road king fuel injected

Your bike's timing can only be adjusted through an interface to your ECM like the Screamin Eagle Race Tuner. Have you made any changes to the exhaust or intake? Have you added and aftermarket item like a Power Commander? changes in these areas could account for the problem you are having. hope this helps.

How do I unlock the steering on my 2000 road king. I locked it went in the store and now it won't unlock

As you are turning the key to unlock it, try gently turning the forks first one way then the other to try and relieve pressure form the locking pin.

My 1995 Harley Davidson Road King steering lock is stuck!

Gordon gives the answer

Put the original key or known working key in the ignition switch with a little bit of pressure in towards the on position, while holding the key that way wiggle the front end by holding on to one of the grips at the same time. Doing this will help the key to turn by allowing it to line up, and push a little bit of debris (foreign particles) out of the way. Spray WD40 or similar product with a nozzle tube down around the thin clearance before trying the key it will flush it out and lube the fine lock pins if they're dirty and hanging up. A side note: after it turns for you check the torque or service the front-end bearings.

2003 road king speedometer stopped working & the mileage isn't changing either

Check to see if there is any back lighting.

Pull the speed sensor from the transmission case and if there are any metal filings on it clean them off and replace it. If there are not filings you may need to replace the sensor. The speedometer head itself or wiring conneftors could be the porblem as well.

My first time on a road king. do i need the key to turn on the ignition? Is the key just for the steering?

The key is used for 'Locking" and "Unlocking" the ignition lock. As long as the lock is unlocked, you don't need the key to ride the bike. But, neither does anyone else. When you walk away from your bike, anyone can jump on it, turn the switch on and ride off on it. That's why us old timers used to have the manually operated petcocks on our bikes. We'd turn the gas off. Most crooks wouldn't think to check to see if the gas was turn on. If they tried to steal your bike, they'd get just about out in the road and the bike would shut down due to no gas in the carb.
