My 2008 CBR 1000 RR wont start. It turns over but wont fire without throttle and fans run constant? Any ideas?

My 2008 CBR 1000 RR turns over but wont start. All signs pointed to ECM so I Switched out the ECM with a good one and now the bike starts but you have to hold throttle to keep it idling. It turns over but wont fire and stay running without throttle maintenance and the fans run constant in "ignition on position"? Pulled out harness and inspected, no obvious damage, fuses are good and relays switched out with no change at all. Checked stator and rectifier, both tested around 14.43 V at 2,000rpm and 5,000 Im thinking Harness or cam sensor? Any ideas?

ed out the ECM, the fans stopped running in the "ignition on position" which tells me the ECM was in fact part of the problem. But what would have fried the ECM? Im really starting to think harness?

i could not find a schematic of a 96 cbr400rr, so guessing this bike is not from the USA. however, there should be a master fuse near the battery on the positive side mounted to the battery box somewhere. i would check this fuse first to see if its burned out.

also, is battery fully charged? might have to top charge the battery to get good juice if its old (>3 years) and been sitting for a bit.

good luck.

SOURCE: honda cbr 600 wont start

hi, each lead has the specific number on it. if you do this correctly then they genrally give you an idea to where the sit in the coils( the way they bend :-) ) also i believe the coils are better off been attached to the frame once you are sure leads are in corect order and possitioned correctly in the coils.i just presumed the coils neaded earthing. make sure battery is pleny charged as a bad battery can just hinder. it is also very easy to flood the bike so just check the plugs again. if they are unusually wet then dry them off and try again . otherwise maybe try cleaning all electics.

hope this somehow helped

SOURCE: Bike wont Start.

You can accidentally UNPLUG the tip sensor if you remove/jar the front fairing. Verify that it is plugged in. If you uninstalled the tip sensor, make sure it is installed in the correct position. Here's the service manual next steps after that check: First thing the SM states when you turn the key and get no fuel pump "noise" is to inspect the fuel pump by measuring the voltage between the terminals. If there is battery voltage, check the main fuse (20A), sub fuse (10A), engine stop switch, fuel cutoff relay (relay box under left middle cowl), engine stop relay, bank angle sensor, and finally, ECM.

If you have power to the relay and the relay isn't closing, I'd suspect that you have a bad replacement relay. When you jump it are you jumping across the secondary circuit?

Engine wont fire new battery fitted plugs?

are the new plugs firing (i.e. is there spark?) if yes then it is a fuel issue. when you turn the bike to the ON position can you hear the fuel pump prime? if yes then you have an issue with the efi. either way you should have a dealer look at this. as it is an 2008 model it should still have a warranty.

all in all take it to a Certified Dealer!!!!
