Any unleaded fuel will be fine and yes it should be vertical to check the oil level.

SOURCE: Exhaust Pipes on 1995 Suzuki Intruder VS

Hi Lcyr.
Any changes you make to the exhaust system will alter the sound the bike produces. The more you cut baffles, and open up the exhaust, the louder it will get.  What you do alter to a greater extent,is the state of tune of the motorcycle. Any changes to exhaust or inlet plumbing will require a retune of the engine to suit the modifications. This can be subtle to dramatic. Opening up exhausts can often rob low end power where exhaust port scavaging is relient on some back pressure for maximum effect.
Best to work directly with an engine tuner to do the mods that are known you can get away with, or buy aftermarket prebuilt pipes that have a known previously tested state of tune. Nothing worse than doing something, that then costs money to put back the way it was on finding out it didnt work as well as was hoped.. Hope this has helped you steer your custom mods a little.  I can say with certainty, that I have ventured to do what you are doing many times in the past, and it has always cost me more money in tuning and... and well more parts :)  Cheers
regards robotek

SOURCE: do I check the oil in my intruder 1400 resting on the kickstand?

Yes you do check the oil level when the bike is straight up and down to the ground. start the bike let it run for 3- 5 min shut it off. let it stand for 3-5 min get the bike is straight up and down. then check the motor oil level.

How often do you change the oil on a 2002 Suzuki vs 800 intruder

Hi, it all depends on the type of riding you do. Mr Suzuki advises 4,000 miles between oil changes. This is OK if you do a lot of miles every time you ride. If you do a lot of short journey's then you need to to do more frequent oil changes. I normally do an oil change every 2,000 to 2,500 miles as I do a lot of short trips. One of my bikes has no cam shaft bearings and I do an oil change every 1,000 to 1,500 miles regardless.

Hope this helps.

No use of Bike for 2 yr. What problems would I expect to make it ride again?

If you didnt drain the fuel before before you stored it I suggest draining the fuel system; including the float bowls; and replacing with fresh fuel before attempting to start. Check the air box and under the seat for mice nests. Oil the chain. Change the oil and just give it a good looking over befoer you start it.

Suzuki intruder 800vs backing through carbs

May not be getting enough fuel, check the filtre in the fuel tank, remove fuel ****,(fuel on/ fuel off/ reserve).( has rubber o ring type gasket), could also be a kink in the fuel line, check or replace spark plug's, you also may need to test your fuel pump with meter, check out intruder alert cafe, lot's of good advice there.

Hi,

You made a mistake sorry, should have not put oil in. Take it straight back to shop, ask them on phone what type of oil they put in, say you want it in writing. Don't tell them why yet. Then, with a witness, drain some oil as a sample, get witness to keep it. Then take bike to shop and tell them what happened. Drain oil sample at shop to compare, if they don't rebuild your motor, tell them you have a sample to take to analyst etc etc.

Thanks,

Adam.

What is the oil capacity in the crankcase of a 1993 800cc intruder. How much do you fill it too? I stuck my finger in and got no oil and there is no measure dip to tell.

holds 3 us quarts of oil with a oil filter change or if the egine was complety drained after overhaul it takes 3 1/2 us quarts of oil.
To check oil look for a small quarter size window on the clutch case, oil level should fill half the window to be full.Bike must be held level while viewing window, not on kick stand.
