Honda CR-V - 2004 - High RPM not returning to Idol RPM ????

Honda CR-V SE Sport - 2.0ltr - 2004 - Manual.

When i start the car up, the idol is current, slightly over 1,000rpm when cold, after it has warmed up, this then becomes about 800rpm.

When the car is warmed up and i am driving it, this is when the problem arrises.

Ok, lets say for Example: i'm driving down the road at 30mph in 3rd gear, when i depress the clucth to change gear, the revs / rpm does not drop down back to idol rpm. If you depress the clucth and put into netral and coast down the road, the rpm should drop back to idol speed. Well it doesnt. The idol will drop to about 1,500rpm and sit there, after about 3 - 5 seconds it will then drop to idol rpm.

Another factor i found with this problem, again Example: if i'm travelling at 40mph in forth gear and release my foot off the throttle, the car's rev's should drop down slowly hence no throttle. Well, when i take my foot off the accelorator pedal, the car will continue at that rpm and speed for again about 3-5 seconds before the rpm begins to drop.

In summary, what i am trying to say is. There is a slight delay from when you release the throttle and or depress the clucth untill the rpm drops back down to idol rpm.

This can be quite dangrous, as i was going down some country back roads, relesaed my foot of the throttle to slow down to corner but the car continued at the same speed, needing the brakes to slow down.

I would very much appriciate it, if anyone has had this problem, knows of it or has any advice.

I'am no expert on this car, but i would chk. the T.P.S. (throutle positioning sensor) there also may be carbon build up on throutle butterfly, not letting it close completely when you take your foot off the pedel.

What would cause my 2003 ford escape to idle around 2000 to 3000 rpm after it has been running for a while. it runs fine when it is first started up.

If your A/C is on , or you are running the climate control in the defrost windshield mode , the engine will idol higher than normal.
A Vacuum leak could also cause a high idol.. check the vacuum lines and be sure they are in good condition and all plugged in.

My idol sits around 100-300 RPM

your idle should be around 750 to 850 in park or neutral
i don't know how it even runs at the rpm you listed.
your vehicle should have a tps sensor
"throttle positioning sensor" you might have to have it reset

check for air leaks on the emission system, if fine, check for the throthle posittioner disconect it, if idles good, replaceit, next go to the idle motor, is next to the throthle body, remove it and clean it with a good carburator cleaner, install it and start the car.
good luck.

High idol all the time& tranny problems

Check for vacuum leaks on the high idol. You have a speed sensor or wiring issue with the tranny. Will need to be checked somewhere with a computer to know for sure on the tranny.
