Clutch fluid (from small reservoir) dipping on inside of the firewall 1988 jeep yj wrangler

Fluid from the small reservoir (which has the brake fluid inside it for the clutch cylinder) is leaking on the inside of the vehicle firewall, subsequently draining the fluid on a daily basis; which in turn, softs the clutch to where it would be un-useable. I re-fill the reservoir, and off we go. I replaced the clutch master slave cylinder less than a year ago. Any ideas?

SOURCE: I replaced the cluth and slave cylinder in my 1988

Did u bleed the system to get rid of the air. Put fluid in the resovoir, open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder, put a hose on the bleeder valve and into a container with clean fluid and pump the clutch until no bubbles-close the valve and remove hose, check resovoir and top up--system is now bled.

SOURCE: 1992 YJ clutch fluid disapears.

It's probably your slave cylinder. On my '89 it was located in the clutch housing. You have to take the tranny off to get access to it. This is probably why the fluid is "disappearing." I'd suggest changing the clutch while you're at. They sell kits for this at auto parts stores.

SOURCE: Clutch Pedal Very Soft

Air in the system. The shave is between the engine and trans and even a small leak won't show up. Look in the rubber piece on trans with a light and see if you see any fluid. If you see any then the slave is starting to fail.

I have a 1991 jeep wrangler the clutch fluid keeps getting real low

clutch fluid level droppin means that ur clutch master cylinder is leaking,u can check by looking inside car where pushrod goes thru firewall to see if its wet with brake fluid where rod comes thru wall inside car, a wet ,stained carpet.the other possibility is ur clutch slave cylinder located at side of ur transmission, usually drvr side is leaking fluid.if this is the case u will notice clear brake fluid at the bottom center of ur trans, right where it butts up towards ur engine. anyhow its a good idea to replace both pieces at same time to avoid any further issues with clutch pedal. good luck hope this helps

How do you check the clutch fluid on 1991 Jeep Wrangler?

There should be a small master cylinder for the clutch right next to the brake master cylinder, mounted more towards the fender. Remove the top cover and look inside. Regular brake fluid is used in the clutch system. If it's low, likely you have a leak so check where the rod goes through the firewall under the dash, the line itself and the slave cylinder (some are outside the bellhousing, others are inside and fluid will leak from the bottom of it.

Where is the bleed valve for clutch on a 1991 jeep wrangler

1. Fill master cylinder reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid. Raise and support vehicle. Attach bleeder hose to bleeder screw on bleed line of slave cylinder. See Fig. 1 (attached in link) . Place other end of hose in glass container 1/2 full of brake fluid. Loosen bleeder screw while holding bleeder screw fitting.

2. Have an assistant depress clutch pedal to the floor. Tighten bleeder screw and release clutch pedal. Repeat bleeding procedure until fluid entering container is free of bubbles. DO NOT allow reservoir to run out of fluid during bleeding. Refill clutch master cylinder reservoir.

CAUTION: DO NOT allow bleed line to bend or flex when loosening
bleeder screw.

Clutch adjustment 95 Jeep YJ

no, there is no clutch adjustment. the clutch is hydraulic, and self adjusting, there are several things that can go wrong with these. with normal wear the fluid can run low allowing air into the system, causing a weak peddle. they can also develop leaks in the master and slave cylinders resulting in fluid loss also causing a weak peddle leading to an inopperative clutch. check the fluid level in the clucth master cylinder(next to the brake master cylinder. if it is empty, refill it(it takes brake fluid) then cycle the clutch peddle a few times and check for leaks. if there is air trapped in the line the clutch will need to be bled. there is a bleeder screw on top of the slave cylinder, bleed it just like bleeding brakes.
