I guess in theory no it doesn't but I would be concerned that if stuff can get out then the opposite is stuff can get in. grit or grime getting in potentially could affect everything.

I assuming it leaking from the counter shaft seal ? if it is recommend fixing as its only about $30 and 20 minute job why would you leave it?? Just my opinion, you could also just keep topping up with oil now and again I guess.

I have a 2005 kubota l39 model and the front end loader will not stay in a curled position. also the backhoe has some hydralic leaks and wondering if that is affecting front end loader

Yes, any hydraulic leaks will affect the entire machine. They are also extremely dangerous when pressurized (used) and hydraulic fluid is hazardous. Repair the leaks correctly before operating the machine further.

Peugeot 207 1.4, small oil leak from underneath, added engine stop leak, how long before it stops leak?

oil leaks from underneath can come from front crank shaft seal --rear crank shaft seal --oil filter--sump gasket---power steering ---leaking rocker cover gaskets ---leaking oil pressure switch.--transmission seals. I suggest that you have the engine professionally cleaned and then put it on a hoist while running to see where the oil is from

2- Take away the plug cap in the oil pump perhaps the case with Method 09213-33000. Insert some sort of 0. 32 inch screwdriver throughout the plug hole whereas plugging the left side within the engine block. The screwdriver really should go in at a minimum 2. 4 in ..
3- Pull through the pump made gear, the left counter top balance shaft bolt and therefore the front case mounting bolts. Note the program plans and locations within the bolt. Remove the way it is and gasket and then the two counter balance shafts out of your block.
4- Separate that oil pump protect and gears with the case. Remove the screwdriver on the plug hole and eliminate the pump driven gear and then the left counter stabilize shaft bolt. Take the essential oil pumpcover belonging to the case. Install Brand new Oil Pump

My 92 nighthawk 750 is leaking oil on the left side. with my foot on the peg and my toe on the shifter it drips on the toe of my boot. What is that cover called? It is about 6 inches in diameter.

Left crankcase cover or pulse alternator cover. Is the cover over the left side of the crank shaft end. There is also a "left cover" that covers the counter shaft sprocket. I believe the cover you are looking for is shown on the pulse alternator page of the micro fiche.

Leaky counter shaft

remove the sprocket, hook out the seal and replace, make sure all is clean, and no grass or wire has caused it. You can usually remove the spacer that is over the shaft that the sprocket holds against, this will give room on the inside of the seal to hook it out
