SOURCE: Brake failure light.

This is normal. Its part of the start up diagnostics where the sensors needs to see the wheels rotate 1 or 2 revolutions to verify proper functioning of the ABS system.

SOURCE: the brake failure light is flashing. Sometimes

There is a known problem with this bike. Check the switch on the rear brake peddle. If it is sticking you will experience this problem. Sometimes just a little spray lubricant will fix it. I had a dealer want to charge $3000 for the part alone to replace a pump in the ABS circuit and luckily I found out about this online.

Reset belt light on 2002 or 2003 kawasaki prairie 650

The 2002 650 never needs this light reset procedure. If the belt switch is tripped, adjust the belt and flip the switch back to "ON"(a loose belt flips it to off). A flipped switch will cause a power loss.

2003 650 and 2004 700 can also have their belt switches tripped by a loose belt. However, the belt light may stay on after flipping the switch back to "ON", or it may have come on automatically at 100 hours to get you to return the machine to the dealer for inspection. The following procedures will reset the light if the belt switch is not tripped. A tripped switch will cause loss of power. Adjust the belt and flip switch to the "ON" position (a loose belt flips it to off). However, a belt light needing to be reset (such as at 100 hours) will cause early 2003 machines to loose power, but not later ones (I am told). If you aren't sure which procedure to use on your 2003 650, try the first one. If it does not reset the light use the second one.

Early 2003 650 Belt light reset procedure.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the belt failure switch at the 2-pin connector above the CVT cover. (Note: Just follow the wires coming from the rectangular black box on the CVT Cover to locate this connector.)

3. Disconnect both sets of 5 pin connectors located above the CVT cover. Note: These connectors are located just beneath the shift handle on the right side of the 650; one is black and one is grey.

4. Connect these 5 pin connectors to their opposite pairs (grey to black and black to grey).

5. Turn the ignition switch ON.

6. Observe the belt-warning lamp. It should be flashing at a 0.4 second interval for a few seconds then start to flash slower. Let the lamp flash for at least seven seconds.

7. After seven seconds or more, turn the ignition switch off.

8. Reconnect 5 pin connectors to their proper location (black to black, grey to grey).

9. Connect the belt failure switch 2-pin connector (wires from CVT cover).

10. Turn the ignition switch on to confirm that the belt warning light is not flashing. Retry this procedure if needed. As far as I have heard it always works if the belt switch isn't tripped and there are no electrical problems.

Electrical system failure on 2008 Pontiac Torrent while replacing brake light? Key now stuck in ignition?

No electrical system failure due to replacing a brake light. If the brake lights were not coming on, you may want to check your brake pedal switch. If the switch does not make properly, then the brake lights will not illuminate, and the transmission interlock may prevent the transmission from going into park, which locks the ignition cylinder (sometimes), but check that first.

How to pinpoint and fix electrical disturbance in 1998 expedition?

Could be the ignition switch itself. Under the hood where all the wires go into the fusebox in the cab is a good pkace to start. You need to take the bolt/nut off and pull the box and wires apart. I have seen fuse blocks heavily corroded and cause problems as you are haveing. Also could be the ecm (aka)computer in your car is going bad. You can get a remanufactured one cheap. And it is simple and strait forward

Trying to fix 2002 Accord stuck in Park Problem and brake light failure. If you depress the brake far enough and with enough force, everything works ok. Can you do something to adjust it, or must the...

the brake light switch is either bad or needs replaced. when putting into park and taking it out, you have to press on brake to activate switch. it is located on back side of brake pedal. it should have a wire connector on it. that is why brake lights do not work also. have a good day !

Abs light flashing alternatively when putting ignition on

There is a simple way to fix it as I've discovered. Start your bike, if lights are flashing ride for a mile or two applying the rear brake a few times. Stop the bike and place on centre stand. switch off motor then restart. Your flashing lights should have gone. Why the flashing happens is if you ride and use your rear brake rarely and then your bike sits for a day or two without use your rear brake assembly fully retracts, ie pads away from disc and ABS gizzmos inactive. The ABS sensor unit then reports extended non use pattern to the onboard 'brain' which activates the warning mode of flashing lights. This has worked for me several times over the last 5 years when its occured. Full ABS operations return. Tried it on a mates bike and it fixed same problem on his.

2002 A4 cannot shift out of park

I've never heard of it being ECM, although it could be.

Have you watched to see if the brake lights are working properly? I've had two brake light switch failures in 65 years of New Beetle ownership, and the first indication is it will not shift out of Park with the brake pedal depressed.
