Brake light not working with foot brake or hand brake. replaced blown tail/brake light bulb and license plate light bulb. thinking it may be brake light switches, front and rear. i've located the rear switch, but not sure where front may be.

yes, there is a common connection. Find the rear master cylinder and the brake line that comes out of it running towards the rear of the bike. Along this line, you'll find a pressure switch. This is the rear brake light switch. It has two blades on it that usually have two wires one each connector. One of the connectors is supposed to be "hot" when the ignition is turned on. This supplies the power for both the front and rear lights. Jumpering across the two terminals at that switch should turn the brake light on. Test it with a test light.
Good Luck

This is a generic offering for your question on a very specific make and model of Harley Davidson motorcycle.
I don't know EXACTLY on this model. ... it will be a mechanical switch attached to some part of the mechanical linkage - probably by a spring to allow for shoe wear, or if hydraulic, follow the line from the master to the slave. You are going to have to get down on the ground and look at all the linkage and line. Your switch may be covered by a panel of some type.
Let me know what you find ... thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

On the back underneath the seat, it should switch on when your headlamp comes on
