I have a 2004 hyosung 250 comet. i can not get it to start with the start button. you would think that its the battary but its not. i have had it check and its fine. i can push start it and after its running the lights work fine and runs good.
Sounds like there is too much of a load on that circuit. You need to do a battery/charging/draw test first and foremost. You can normally have these tests performed for free at your local auto parts store. It could be a bad starter pulling too many amps for that circuit,or it could just be that the valves need adjusting. But get the battery/charging/draw test done first, and that should point you in the right direction. If the tests come back in spec,..then i would start looking for a bad ground,or a pinched wire.Especially around and on the handlebar controls.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially and based on your description, this pertains to a fuel issue. Corrective action would involve not only changing the fuel but cleaning the fuel tank, the built-in fuel filter, the fuel valve, the carb. Particular attention should be given to the jets and the multiple pin holes.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
SOURCE: yzf 250 wont run without the choke
Hi mikelapt
You will have a carby problem. When the choke is one, and different fuel circuit is used. When you turn off the choke, you go back to the idle circuit of the carb is used, when under throttle, main jets kick in. You probably have a blockage in one of these circuits. Strip the carb down, clean with carby cleaner, blow out all air circuits and jets with compressed air, then setup the idle mixture and tick over speed. Always work with fresh fuel, and drain off, discard any fuel older than a couple of months. It goes off, and turns to a gel like substance that blocks up your carby. Hope this has explained your problem. Happy to talk to you more about it. A FixYa vote is a great reward for for my time taken to explain this to you. Cheers

SOURCE: 2004 rmz 250 wont kickstart, but will push-start
Kick starting is sensitive to fresh fuel. Tank should be completely drained
Headlights and, starter motors require more amps (power) than the blinkers and, taillights
so: jump your battery before you tear into the wiring
If it still doesn't start or, light up
I'll help you troubleshoot the wiring
