Unplug the handlebar wires where they connect to the wiring harness. Remove the black electrical connectors at the end of the wires. Pull the wires through the ends of the handlebars. Silicone lubricant sprayed into the bars will make this a bit easier, and you should be able to leave the silver pins on the ends of the wires, saving yourself some work when installing your new bars. Leave the wires connected at the handlebar controls when doing this. Just unscrew the controls from the bars and pull the wires.

I have a 2007 Ridley autoglide sport 750cc and I'm trying to change handlebars and can't find where to unplug the internal wires from the old bars to install the new bars. Help please

In my limited experience the handlebar wiring usually can't be unplugged but has to be disconnected from the handlebar controls and unthreaded from the handlebar.

2010 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide remove the tail light lens @

Hi, Jay for this scenario you will need your service manual that has all fastener torque specs -fluid capacities and a wiring diagram on the back pages, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can not find the best tool you ever bought for your Harley, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

I have a 2002 dyna wide glide and the brake light stays on all the time

It's probably the front brake light switch is broken causing this. The brake light switch is operated by a tab on the backside of the front brake lever. To get to the switch, you must disassemble the right handlebar switch housing. Remove the two bolts that hold the housing halves together. Loosen the throttle and idle cable adjustments and remove the throttle sleeve. Lower the bottom half and you'll see the switch in the front of the housing. You'll have to unsolder the wires from the old switch and resolder them to the new switch. I don't think Harley has changed them to plug on type wire connectors. This would be my best guess.

Good Luck

My 2000 H-D fxdwg just started blowing fuses for my running lights . Can't find any obvious problems . Any ideas ?

Does it blow the fuses with the light on high or low beam? Has anything been added or removed from the bike prior to the fuses blowing? You definitely have a short/break in insulation somewhere. Places to look--between handlebars and frame (turning handlebars tightly may be pinching wires). Switches on handlebars, wires under tank, wires under seat

Cannot find Deutsch connectors for handlebar switch harness. Where are the connectors located?

Duetch connectors are the plastic multi wire plugs. All handlebar wiring likely terminates in the headlight housing.

Installing new handlebars, where are wire

One the earlier models, the handlebar connectors were down under the tank. But, Harley changes electrics every year so you never know. All I can tell you is "follow the wire".
