i have a 2003 ford zx2.the cigarrette lighter does work.i looked at the duse box to see where it is located and its not there.everything is listed except for the cigarette lighter which is why i cant loctae where that fuse is.
can you tell me how to locate the ciggarette lighter fuse since it isnt locate on the panel box like the rest of the items.i checked my owners manual and it talks about the ciggarette lighter and the fuse number which is 20A but it doesnt show where it is located.
It is probably associated with some interior group, such as glove box or something. Usually something else will not work when the lighter blows. If its still working..plug in something with a light..then one by one pull an interior item fuse...youll soon know.
If you don't have the owners manual with Fuse Box Diagram and that is not marked, The Lighter would say AUX or Misc or Lighter, the easiest way to find the blown fuse is to check them all one at a time. Since you heard the fuse blow it is the interior fuse not the one under the hood. It may have just been a bad fuse but if you replace the blown fuse and it blows right away then start checking for a grounded wire or if you added and AMP or something and tapped that line look at moving that splice to another line. A common item to splice into this is the Alarm or AMP but there are other items that might have been spliced in like a radio if that is not the factory AM/FM Cassette.
this is usually a fuse problem which you find by checking the fusebox or unscrewing the lighter from its socket and tracing the line bacvk to the fuse and sometimes there is another fuse for the lighter there
possibly a spike through the ciggarette lighter plug, try putting slightly larger fuse in ( 4 or 5 amp )
temporarily and see if it blows the slightlty larger fuse. if it does it's more likely to be something wrong with the ciggarette lighter socket if it doesn't blow the fuse it's more likely to be the power supply. Ebay for another one perhaps ??
look in they cig lighter they somtine collect coins or metal object that would short them out
and yes you can disconnect it and should find the problem.
i have also found shorted horns . but this should blow the fuse only when you push the horn button
