SOURCE: Bike shuts off when in gear

hello and welcome
it seems that you may have a faulty side stand switch. the side stand needs to be in the up position before the bike can be started off in gear. but if not the side stand contains a saftety switch that shuts the bike off when put into gear. to verify this you can check for spark when the bike is being turned over in gear with the clutch held in.
there should be two wires associated with this switch. a green, and green with white. so when the stand is up these two wires are connected, and the switch can be tested as such. thank you.

SOURCE: 650 V-Star Classic Bike goes into gear but won't move

Known issue with the 650 vstars...no recall from yamaha though. The drive shaft splines are **** and they shear off on the shaft and the side that goes in the gearbox. Gearbox (rear drive unit) = $825 Shaft = 160. Have to buy the gearbox as a whole because yamaha is greedy.

SOURCE: I have a '99 FZS Fazer 600, and it won't start.

i had same problem turned out to be electrical issue check all your wiring connections under the seat and under your fuel tank and if there all fine try checking that your fuel pump motor is running mine wasnt because of damp on my wiring connectors. when you turn on the ignition the bike should click a few times and your fuel pump should come on look under your tank looks like this with 2 tubes running from your fuel tank http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-fzs-600-fazer-00-fuel-pump_W0QQitemZ250559832283QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=&rvr_id=&cguid=6d2769071260a0e2048322d3fffcee00
this needs to be running or you will be riding the bike on gravity fed fuel and as soon as you open the bike up you will not get enough to the engine and will cut out hope this helps

The bike won't start

Hi Thomas put the bike in a high gear and turn the back wheel to make sure the motor is turning over. If it is try booster cables. If that don't work follow the plus cable to the starter solonide and cross the two heavy cables with a screwdriver if the starter is still not working you will need a starter. Regards Jim...

Something catching on drum

is it noisy in the spin cycle?on the back wall of the drum it looks like a peace sign, this is where the spider gear and or rear bearing is,the gear can crack from overloading or using to much detergent, this could be what you're hearing as you move the drum,if it's something between the tub it will end up in the pump but most likely it's from the spider gear,i've seen this before, when it starts to pin fast gravity pins the broken part to the side but when you move the drum by hand you can hear it,use it and keep an eye on it,if your washer starts getting loud in the spin you'll know it's the spider gear,it would cost more to fix it than have it repaired so this means new washer time.

97 roadking wont go into gear while engine is not running and in neutral, starter just spins

The starter clutch needs to be replaced. An alternator sgop will usually rebuild these for 1/2 of a new one. .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. Good Luck.

Bike won't start, headlights and gauges light, hear a click coming from under the bearpaw, battery is new today from dealer

If you're hearing a clicking from the engine casing after changing the battery and the bike still won't start, chances are there may be a problem with your starter motor.

Either it's not contacting well enough to the battery (Faulty Wiring or Loose Connection), may be having trouble engaging/dis-engaging the starter gear, or it's just cactus and needs repair/replacing.

If you haven't tried push starting the bike, I'd suggest trying that first. Sometimes that can dis-lodge the starter gear if it's stuck, but it might require maintenance to ensure it doesn't happen again.

If you're un-aware of how to perform a rolling start, put the bike on a downward slope, or get a friend who can help push. Put the bike in first gear with the clutch in, and the ignition 'on' and roll the bike forward to a bit more than a brisk walking pace. Lift your weight from the seat and drop it down again quickly. As you drop down, release the clutch to engage first gear and hopefully the bike should spring into life. (Beware not to hold the throttle open, or stop moving too quickly, as this can cause an the bike to spring forwards or dropping of the bike as it stops suddenly)

If this fails, you may need to have the Started Motor removed to be looked at, as it may need replacing or repair by a professional.

Hope that helps!
