I have 2 monsters in my barn right now, the starter motor is, well is not the easiest. First, is it the starter gone bad or the relay? Check the fuse. Then check the relay, bottom right of the air filter housing, rubber mounted, make sure it cliks when the key is on and the starter button is hit, then check the battery, make sure it is good, then if all this checks out, check the wiring. If it is still a bad starter, remove the crank case cover on the left, rotate the starter gear to align the bolt, unscrew the 3 bolts, and replace the gasket when putting in the new starter. Don't forget to take the battery negative off, and wire on the starter motor. Good luck.

Have battery load tested, check all connections on starter, on battery, and on the engine where the ground cable hooks up.

Monster Starter problem

if you are having starter problems with duc there is a special tool you need for removing the alt cover on the motor to remove the starter. its better for a dealer to do this job so you don't end up with a leaking motor after you get the job done, but you should look at the start relay first and your battary health, also start switch.

Starter motor

I wrote to this last week but it looks like my letter got sent out to space. The book says to check a bunch of stuff in the line to make sure your starter is the culprit, but I take it , it works, you just want it off. Remove the crank cover on the left side, line up the starter ring holes with the bolts, don't forget the wires, that's it.

I cant get starter motor off

Usually inside the casing is a sprocket you must remove before it will come out.
