SOURCE: I can't get my fzr 600 to start...

hey m8,, does the petrol pump work,, and fuel in the carbs,
make sure u have fuel gettin to the carbs,,pull off the fuel line on the carb, and a quick on and off of the ignition, see if fuel pours out the fuel line 1st,,if thats all cool,, then check u havent got a air leak ,in the air box,, check the jubilee clips on the carbs holdin the air box on are sealing and tight,, ,if thats cool, check and clean your plugs,, take a plug out and put in its cap again ,lay on top the motor and turn the engine over, check if its sparkin nice,, if all that is good ,, this happens a lot if been mest with,, but have u had the coil leads off b4,, if so u may have the wires on the wrong coils,, as u r sat on the bike, from left to right should be 1,3,4,2,,left coil 4 plugs 1 and 4,, right coil 4 2, and 3,,

SOURCE: My FZR 600 is acting up and backfires

I have had several bikes in my time. and keeping the carbs syncranized is very important. Did you put aftermarket pipes on it? try rejeting the carbs up 2+mm that may help the fuel air ratio?

SOURCE: 94 yamaha xj 600 want rev over 6000 rpm

hi m8,,1st,, would u no if the bike has been resricted ,,to 33bhp,,if it hasent2nd,, have a look at the spark plugs,, start her up rev until it coffs or wont rev then hit the kill switch,,see wot colour the plugs are ,,they should a biscuit brown,,if not clean them up or change them,, 3rd test, start her up again throttle it a few times ,,untill shez warm,, then ,this sounds not nice, but either spit on your hand or dip hand in sum water, then quickly touch each exhaust down pipe, and make sure there isnt a pipe cooler than the other 3,, if u do find there is that would narrow the test down to that cylinder thats playin up,,try that 1st m8,, then come back if any probs still, and il take u threw next steps,,

SOURCE: 94 yamaha fzr 600. only firing on 1 an 2 cyl

No one thing controls those items.
The ignition and headlight circuits
each have their own fuses under the seat.

If you have power to both of the coil sets
then the coil for cylinder 3 and 4
might be faulty.

Lights may just have a blown fuse.

You have more than one problem
going on there.

SOURCE: fzr 600 got killer spark pulls fuel valves in

This is not the news you probably want to hear but backfiring thru the carbs when you have good spark can be one of 2 things... either the valves are sticking / not closing properly due to carbon or the cam timing has shifted from the original position.

It would be best to do a compression test. You should have a minimum of 100 PSIG for an engine with major problems and up to 150 for a healthy engine. If you can not get 100 PSIG then it will be time for some serious engine service.

There is a possibility of the kill switch wire in the handle bar grip grounding under the grip to the handlebar but, since you said you have killer spark I doubt this is your problem.

Thanks for using FixYa.

sounds like fuel delivery, check ur fuel pump first....grab a cup pull the hose that connects to the carb and the tank should be (red) turn the bike on dont start just turn the key on, it should pump fuel(a pretty good flow) if its pumping carbs are possibly dirty, if its not replace it, is ur battery fully charged, and all post secure?

check if the carbs are in sync, check all feul lines and carbs are clean ,are running standard pipe ? if sports pipe you will need to rejet the carbs dont ride the the bike til you have done this ,you run the risk of breaking the engine which will be painfull to you and the bike.good luck

My 1991 yamaha fzr 600 has been sitting for three years same gas and oil and filters. it starts with a full choke but when you give it any thorottle it bogs out and dies

Any water in the gas? Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Any water or trash in the bowl? ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Drain all the old gas from the tank. Install an in-line fuel filter. You will need to clean the built up varnish from the evaporated gas out of the carbs.

FOR EACH carb > Remove the float bowl and clean the entire
carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Balance and sync the carbs.

I strongly suggest you to let the shop take care of the carbs. Cleaning can be a nightmare times four and doing the balancing and sync of the carbs sounds easier than it is. If you do the carb work then be sure you have a fire extinguisher at hand. I am serious about that.
