1997 Saturn SC2 wont start electrical issue

When you turn the key, the dash lights work but the clock doesnt turn on and the car wont start (in fact the clock is off entirely, its never on anymore even though it should be). When you hold the lock button in, the clock lights up and the car will start right up. It has a new battery, starter, and alternator. I dont understand what is interrupting the circuit so that the clock wont light up and the car wont start. Please help

No. I dont think its the theft system. Has anyone had problem with one of the relays before that could be causing this problem?

SOURCE: 1997 Saturn SC2 won't start; not even when jump

Auto or manual? If its auto try puting it in neutral and try starting. If manual than try pushing the clutch all the way to the floor. There is a switch on thr pedal that when pressed it enganges the starter.

Have 1999 saturn sc2 coupe engine will not turn over has automatic transmission

Not turning over means that you try to start it and get NOTHING. If the engine cranks and wont start that is a different issue.

2007 saturn ion wont start

Need more information. Is the battery good? Does it turn over? if the battery is good and it won't turn over you could have a stuck start solenoid (Tap with wrench) or the relay that energizes the starter is bad. I just replaced the relay which is part of a connector under the dash on my 98 SC2, after a new battery and an indication of no voltage to the started when the key was in the start position. works now

I have a 2000 saturn sc2 and the steering wheel is lock and i tried to turn the wheel from side to side but that did not work. The key cylinder has all ready been replace about 6 month ago. What can i do...

That happens to me sometimes, too. It just locked about an hour ago as a matter of fact. You're supposed to turn the wheel, I believe to the left, as you turn the key in the ignition. I don't even think about it much anymore, because it easily unlocks.

At time my Saturn wont turn over or start. is this an electrical problem?

This is most likely a security issue. On most GM models there is an anti theft device already in place. It stems from that little black chip in your key. When this starts to fail (which is VERY common) you start to get intermitent starts and a light should appear on the dash that says SECURITY when it doesnt start. If you see this light, you know exactly what it is. This link explains the situation, lists symptoms of a security fail, and gives a couple DO IT YOURSELF ways to fix it.

2001 Saturn SC2 Electrical issue

I had the same problem in a 1997 SC2.  Turns out that finicky/broken door lock/unlock switches were causing an intermittent short.
I removed the 20A fuses to these locks in the switch panel under the radio.  Problem fixed.
