2001 mitsubishi galant died while going 70mph now won't start

I was driving 70mph down the highway and it just died. It now will not start, and it just cranks. There were no service lights on or anything before it did this at all. It just happened all of a sudden. The only symptoms the car was showing was pretty bad vibration on startup and idle speed (which i thought was related to a broken transmission mount) and a squealing noise on startup as well which I was going to have serviced at the end of the week to see what it was. What could make the car die like that??

SOURCE: service engine light

You need to have the system tested for trouble codes, Kragen auto and othes do this for free, post the trouble code back here on this thread.

Sounds like the EGR valve is bad and is stuck in the open position.Just replace that and you should also check the catalytic converter.

Needs tuning. Also replace fuel and air filters. If that doesn't help then it may need piston ring replacement.

the issues with testing an alternator, is that if it is a turbine error, that never starts until constant wear is being promoted by the computer.
This "Mechanic" was he using an OBD Scanner? if not? why Not?

My mitsubishi galant suddenly won't start

1. Check n clean battery cables with a battery brush. Look at both ends, if able.
2. Check battery acid level. Add if needed, get a jump.
3. All OK? Then get a battery load-test done free at a parts store.

Oil gauge goes to 80psi while I'm driving 70mph on highway, drops when I slow down. Why?

They are designed to change as the motor changes speed. If you have 80 lbs. of oil pressure than you have very good oil pressure in your engine. If it gets higher than 80, I would talk to service dept. at your local dealer.

My 2001 mitsubishi galant was traveling 60mph on the highway when the car lost power and came to a stop on the side of the road now it wouldnt start

Check the alternator fuse. It is either located in the fuse block under the hood and is a block type fuse or is part of the positive battery clamp. If you charge your battery and the car will drive for a while and quit again. You probably just have a blown fuse.

Driving down highway no signs of touble, totally stopped

a bad cam sensor will definitely make an engine not fire. I would start with replacing that.if that doesnt help, then look into the oil pressure sensor or maybe the oil pump? I know some cars have a safety circuit that disables the ignition if the pressure gets too low.
