Remove the carb soak in carb cleaner, **** out small bleed holes with a wire from a wire brush etc. One of the passageways is still clogged, or the float is sticking.

SOURCE: Wiring diagram for 1988

I can help you with your schematic request. However, this forum will only allow me to send files up to 150kb, too small for a schematic without losing the clarity off it. If you will contact me directly at [email protected] , I will e-mail the schematic to you as a scanned jpeg file at no charge. Please remind me of what you need in your e-mail. I handle many request in this manner and I cannot remember who wants what.

SOURCE: Wiring problems on 2000 Harley 883 Sportster

If you have two wires that go to the turn signal and they don't work one way. You could try them switched around.
This is for a turn signal that is NOT also a running light. (Yellow Lens to Rear)
Use a test light and turn on the turn signal test both wires with the test light clipped to the ground or chassis of the bike. The wire that causes the light to blink will be the positive or hot side. That wire should attach to the bottom of the bulb.
The other wire is the Ground or common and that should attach to the side of the bulb holder.

Testimonial: "Thank you, as this seems logical. I will give it a try."

2001 harley 883 right turn signal wont flash. Not the module, I replaced it. what else could it be? Help

check your front and rear signal 'sockets" where the bulb goes in, check for rust or a bad connection shorting it out. If that's not the problem, chech the wires under the rear fender to see if you have a bare wire from rubbing on the tire when hitting potholes etc. I had the same problem on my 92 softail. hope this helps.

I have a 1989 Heritage softail classic just rewired a new rear light and now my brake lights dont work neithe front or back but the running lights and signal lighst work fine

The light unit has to be grounded. When you rewired did you forget to reattach the ground wire?Turn the lights on and hit the brake, what does the tail light do? If it goes dim or off you have a bad ground. It worked before the new rear light, right?Check for compromised ground.
