Fzr 250 2kr starts to die round 9500rpm, is it because of pod filters?

FZR 250 2KR starts to run like **** over 85-90km or 9500rpm, the air box had fallen to pieces so replaced with pod filters, the muffler had fallen to pieces so my friend built me another but just staight through. Others have advised i may need to re-jet my carbs, but it almost floods itself at low rpm unless you give it a couple revs when taking off. Advise please? Thanks for the help.

SOURCE: My FZR 600 is acting up and backfires

I have had several bikes in my time. and keeping the carbs syncranized is very important. Did you put aftermarket pipes on it? try rejeting the carbs up 2+mm that may help the fuel air ratio?

Have you checked if the EXUP valve is working? It should cycle when you turn the ignition on.
If it's stuck in the closed position it will be choking the engine in the way you describe

Hi how do you tuneup a yamaha fzr250 2kr, thank you for your help.

Your bike has electronic ignition. There is nothing to set or reset on the timing. Change the spark plugs, adjust the valve lash, change engine oil and filter, clean or replace the air filter, lube and adjust the chain and cables, inspect the sprockets and wheels, add water to the battery if needed, wash the bike. That's pretty much everything the dealer does.
