1999 FLHP Harley Police bike Odometer/Speedometer

The odometer/speedometer quit working, it was working intermittently for a while, now it has stopped altogether. Any suggestions what to look for to repair this problem. I checked all the lugs and they seem to be tight

    The odometer numbers are still showing digitally, however they do not change. The miles will change and the needle will move occasionally. The speedometer needle is not moving. I just can't see how fast I am going. What a way to keep low mileage.

    Thanks guys, I just don't know. Right now I am working on my house that flooded during hurricane Ike, I will get back to the bike issue once the house is back in shape. In the meantime I will just have to ride without a cable. Heck I don't even have time to drop it off at the shop. At least I'll basically have a new interior in the home when I'm done.

    I have a 01 road king, the speedomoter quit, and the numbers show up but don't register, light is working on it, I replaced the speed sensor and it still don't work, any ideas, thanks.

    hey is the odomoter still lit up and showing numbers or is the odomoter spot blank your spedo is electronic and works off a sensor in the tranny if the odomoter is blank the spedo head is bad if it is showing numbers the sensor is bad

If your unit is cable driven, get yourself an old piece of cable and insert it up into the speedo and then spin the cable while watching. If the needle jumps its pretty much assured the speedo head is ok and that your problem is in the cable or in the front wheel. Bill

Diagnostic trouble codes for 2004 harley flhtc
Turn the Ignition switch to the OFF position.
Set the Run/Stop switch to the Run position.
Push in the odometer reset button and hold.
Turn on the ignition switch and release the odometer reset button. The process has been completed correctly when the speedometer needle sweeps across the speedometer and all indicator lamps illuminate. The speedometer will also display "DIAG."
Press the odometer reset button once. "PSSPt" will display on the speedometer. Each letter signifies an area of the diagnostics testing, with the current selection flashing. Push the odometer reset button to scroll through the components for testing.
Press and hold the odometer reset button for 5 seconds, then release. Any codes stored will be displayed on the speedometer. If no codes are stored, the speedometer will display "NONE."
Press the odometer reset button again to view additional codes, if any.
Record the codes and refer to your service manual for possible faults or conditions.
Turn off the Ignition switch to exit the diagnostics testing.

Can you purchase a data link connector for your code reader
Do you mean a auto code reader?
If so, I haven't seen an adapter for that.

If you want to use the code reader just to retrieve error codes (DTCs), on your bike you don't even need a reader.

Turn the Ignition switch to the OFF position.

2012 Harley Davidson FLD Dyna Switch Back speedometer odometer stop working @
Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Contaminated or faulty speed sensor.
2. Faulty turn signal module.
3. Corroded, broken or loose connector pins/sockets in the wire harness between the speedometer and the ECM or TSSM and the sensor.
4. The speedometer unit has failed.
5. Speedometer instrument fuse has blown.

My speedometer quit but the odometer still works (1998 F150) can you solve this
Usually it's the opposite. The speedometer works and the odomater and trip meter go inop. Most likely the speedometer assembly is bad. If the odometer is working you have a signal from the gray and black wire .
