1995 Yamaha virago xv535

We've replaced the pipes and rejetted, took off the carbs and completely cleaned them, and it idles great. As soon as you twist the throttle, the bike dies.

SOURCE: yamaha ttr 125 will start

Check the intake for leaks.
Get it running and spray a little carb cleaner around the intake to see if the RPM's change.
If they do then you have an intake leak.
The jets may be clogged up but I do not think you need to increase the size at all

1995 Yamaha XV 250 Virago Is there a need to adjust the choke (start) cable? If so, how is it adjusted. I think I'm having a problem with my choke and was planning to replace the cable and starter...

The problems with a plunger style choke happen when the rubber on the bottom becomes deformed and does not seal or the spring does not push the plunger down hard enough, or the cap breaks so the plunger is not pushed down hard enough. If you put your finger over the hole and the bike runs properly your bike is running on choke. You have to block the hole deep inside the carb to shut off the choke. I assume the original problem was that the bike would not idle .If this is the case, take the carb apart remove the slow jet and clean the jet and the carb body out so fuel will flow at idle. This should fix your no idle problem.

How do i adjust the idle on my 1995 yamaha virago 1100 cc motorcycle?

On most bikes and four wheelers, this is done by a throttle stop. the position of the stop is usually adjusted by a screw. Remove the tank. turn throttle and see what moves by the carb/ injectors. When you return throttle to idle, the moving piece will come to rest on the throttle stop. You can now adjust its position by turning that screw.

Going to customize my 750 virago. im removing the air induction system and change to a gravity fed gas tank along with after market pipes. Is there any possible problems i might run into and need to be...

When changing to aftermarket pipes on a carburated bike I would recommend have the carbs rejetted, the after market pipes will change the fuel mixture and could cause the bike to run a little funny.
