Replaced bulb in kdf-50e2000- when powered on green light flash 3 times & fan engages, 2 seconds later fan quits and i get a 3 red light blinks

After the 3 red light blinks, the red light goes off then comes back on about 2 to 3 seconds later and blinks 3 more times. It repeats this pattern over and over. I am sure the lamp is in properly and the door is latch properly. Please help

I have taken the lamp out and put it back in 10+ times. I can see the arm of the cover closing the circut on the door cover. What else could it be if I am getting the 3 red light blinks?

I took the back cover of the the TV off. I can see the lamp door cover arm activate a small switch connected to a circut board. THe switch is about 3 centimeters by 2 millimeters in size

Impossible to actually see if lever is Fully engaged---with door off try to engage with a match stick or something not metal--see if set comes on that way.

  • Anonymous Apr 23, 2012

to KNOW engage the lever with the door off with a not metal item--if lamp comes on and set works the door is the problem---do not look at light directly and do not defeat switch long term---door must be replaced---a class action lawsuit was just settled and ended last month for this issue. This is the only way to know if the door/switch is the problem or not.

SOURCE: power light flashed red 4 times then repeats no pic,new bulb/fan!

Check the fan that cools the bulb. It is directly behing the bulb. It should turn on when the power comes on. It apparently has a safety to protect your tv(and home). mine is in the process of going out. looking for online solutions as we speak.

You tv used lamp XL-2400 or also known as F93087500. It is very common for this bulb to fail and have the exact symptom you are experiencing. I cant count how many times I have seen it.. Replace the lamp with either the exact Sony or an OEM and you will be back in business..
Good Luck!!

Tv won't turn on. It blinks green then red.

Hi,
Question shows tv is Sony KDF-60WF655.
Green light blinks when tv gets prepare to fire up lamp, check internal circuits then show picture on front screen.
Red light blinking shows some kind of internal problem during circuit check and protection got activated upon some failure.
Count the red light blink as you will see 3 second long pause and post it here to diagnose what section of tv got problem.
Did you replaced its lamp in last 2-3 years?
Thanks.

Red Light Flashes twice KDF-E50A10

Are you putting the lamp cover back in place before trying to turn the set on? The 2 blink error is a temperature error you might want to check the thermal sensor, is your lamp door warped?

Sony Wega kdf-50E2000 Keeps turning off and on

Before you replace the lamp I recommend trying to clean/dust the lamp component and lamp plug in area. I had the same problem and was able to resolve it by simply blowing the dust off the lamp components and fan. Use a can of high pressure air to get into the cracks and crevices.
