would be nice if you mentioned the transmission type
for both manual and automatic , the box has to come out
for manuals the reason seals leak are
worn seal or groove on shaft
input shaft bearing failure
for automatics it is torque converter shaft and pump seals failed
check for correct oil levels first as over filling causes seals to leak
There is a seal in the gearbox and this has been damaged so oil is leaking past it out of the gearbox. You will have to carefully replace this seal, to do this you need to take the gearbox out of the car, put it on a bench and carefully remove the old seal and press in a new one.
Is the oil you see reasonably clean or is it black. The gearbox oil would be cleaner than the engine oil. Gearbox leaks would most likely come from one of the following:-
Drive shafts
Gear change lever inputs,
Speedo cable
Reverse light switch
Drain plug
Input shaft seal (inside the bell housing).
Pig a piece of paper under the car when you park it at night to give you an idea where the drip is located and inspect the area above that position
There is an oil seal on the gearbox/transaxle input shaft. If this has failed it will leak oil on to the clutch. It might be able to be replaced by just removing the gearbox again to access the seal. Most likely though is, the gearbox will need to be opened up to replace it.
could be your gearbox seals.Check if the front one is gearbox oil or engine oil.If it is engine oil then could be your rocker cover seals..oil from the top travelling down, sump gaskits or crank shaft seals. The direction of travels pushes oil towards the rear and sometimes we think that the leak is on the rear somewhere whereas it could be in the front.
fine out were the leak is???? if its leaking out a drive shaft there are oil seals on them that can be changed from the out side if its coming out the frount gearbox oil seal it will be running out the bell housing,,, big job to fix,,,thats a gearbox out job?
Blow-by on the piston rings builds pressure in the crankcase. There is a case vent and it may be partially plugged or the vent hose pinched. The pressure has gotta go somewhere and the sprocket shaft seal is the choice.
Oil goes out with the pressure. More revs = more oil on the garage floor. Check and clear the gearbox vent and stick in a new sprocket shaft seal.
