What makes up the governor assembly in a Chrysler 300M

I had to have my car towed to a service center because my gear shift was stuck and would not let me get out of reverse so I tried to pull it back and then it "popped". The gear shift then would move freely up and down the different gears but stayed in park. The diag from the shop was that the "cable" was broken which made it hard to switch gears and then because of that the shifter was bent when I tried getting it out of gear. My extended warranty covers automatic internal transmission parts consisting of gears, input and output shafts, bearings, front pump, planetary assembly, sprags, governor assembly, valve body, torque onvertor, transmission case, Chain, drum assembly, solenoids, bushings, accumulator, clutches, bands, servos, parking pawl, speedometer gear, transmission cooler, pistons. Would the cable that they are talking about as well as the shifter be covered under one of those parts? I'm confused and frustrated.

All the parts you listed are internal to the transmission. The cable is external - it runs from the shifter lever to the range selector lever on the transmission. Their analysis doesn't sound right though. If the cable is broken, the shifter should move freely as you described. But that (broken cable and bent lever) happened AFTER the problem of the transmission being stuck in reverse. Your efforts to unstick probably bent the shifter and broke the cable. It would seem something was jammed before you tried to get out of reverse, possibly inside the transmission.

SOURCE: Need to replace the shifter cable on a 2003 PT Cruiser

I got mine fixed. Had to change the cable and the whole shifter assembly. It wasnt too bad in price, less then $200 total, and my son-in-law changed it in about 1/2 hr in the driveway. Just go to the dealer and get the parts break down for that area and get the cable and chances are, you will need the assembly too.

SOURCE: I'm having trouble moving the shifter

Probably needs a new shifter cable. If you can disconnect it from the trans side, and it is still stiff, then it's the cable.

SOURCE: Car stuck in Park, wont switch gears

check to see if the brake lights come on it may be a problem with a brake switch under the dash not letting the shift lock release. there may be a seperate switch just for it so check and see it there is two switches touching the brake pedal lever if the brake lights come on.

SOURCE: My gear shift is stuck and will not move from park

do the brake lights work? the system has a lock out that keeps you from moving out of park unless the brake circuit is activated, hence no brake lights no park lock out release, if the brk lights do work u most have a stuck or defective park lock out solenoid.

Where is tcm on 2000 chrysler 300m

It's not the TCM. It's the solenoid pack in the transmission. Common fail. Part, fluid and filter will run about $350. Plenty of Utube videos on how to swap them. About 3 hours work.

Chrysler 300m- Was replacing flywheel and now I can't get the transmission back in

You need help. Someone with experience needs to check that the torque converter is fully seated in the transmission.
This is an automatic, isn't it?
If it is a manual transmission, the clutch disc has to be centered with a plastic alignment tool, so it all fits back together.

I have a 1999 Chrysler 300M. Simultaneously, the Check Engine light came on, the speedometer stopped working, and the car doesn't shift out of 2nd gear. What's the likely problem?

these vehicles have alot of problems with the tcm( tranmission control module) internal failures of trans speed sensors. your car is currently in "limp in mode" to protect your trasmission!!!

Trany stuck in 2nd gear on my 2000 chrysler 300m im being told that i will need a new trany is this true.

the chrysler transmissions go into a default setting and stay in second gear when there is a governor or governor pressure sensor problem,if you keep driving it that way..u might need a trans,u should have it scanned for trans codes and see what you come up with, the rams were the biggest offenders when it came to this problem, either a turbine sensor code or a govenor solenoid or pressure sensor problem, hope this helps

Gear shift stickinh

Sounds like the shifter cable is corroded to the point that it might snap. Replace the shifter cable. Best wishes to you.
