2001 suzuki gsxr 600 ignition problems

Turned key to on position and nothing happened. no lights, no power whatso ever. i pulled the ignition fuse out and it wasnt burnt, put it back in and the bike started up. the next day the same issue happened with no power, but pulling, and replacing the fuse didnt help. i messed with the fuse box itself and the bike turned on. i am thoroughly confused as to what the problem might be.

Sounds like you have a short in the electrical system possibly around your fuze box. Best thing to do is to just pull off all your plastics and trace the electrical system, looking for exposed wires or damaged wires.

SOURCE: I have a 2001 suzuki gsxr 600 shifting problems

One of two things is happening. One is the cost of a double oil change and filter. The other requires your banks loan officer.

Change gearbox oil and install a new oil filter. Dirt and grit in the oil is binding the gears and shift drum. Ride the bike for a couple of hours. Now drain the oil again and put in fresh oil. This will flush out the dirt and grit. Use 10w40 motor oil. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. If dirty oil is not the problem at least we eliminated the possibility for only the cost of a few quarts of oil.

Now let's talk about that loan officer. The shop is going to charge around $1000 plus to replace a bent shift fork. This is not a repair for the untrained. Sorry.

SOURCE: how to change sparkplugs on a suzuki GSXR 600 K1

You will have to remove the seat to access the bolts holding the tank in place. the four plugs are under the tank. you may also have to remove some of the bodywork. make sure to note the HT(high tension) leads that are attached to the plugs they are numbered, dont mix them up. Here's a link to both the service manual and workshop manual. Everything you will ever need to know about your bike is here, If it proves useful then please rate me. Thanks and good luck.

If the engine wont turn over, probabily you have a bad battery, a bad starter or a bad starter relay, or bad connections.

A hot engine has more compression. If the full battery power doesn't reach the starter it won't turn over...

Sounds like the ignition switch thinks it is in the "park" or "acc" position. Could be an internal switch problem.

Could be ignition fuse. If not that then check the large block connectors which are usually located on the left hand side at the front of the bike behind the cowling beneath the handle bar. These connectors are notorious on GSXR's

My 1997 suzuki gsxr 600 has no electrical power. The battery is new, i have checked all fuses(they are good), and i have traced power all the way up to the ignition. I dont know what to test as to why...

Hi and welcome to the site,

Perhaps the wiring diagram would help tracing. Please click here. On the page that would open, click on the image to enlarge.

Good luck and thank you for asking.
