Sounds like a faulty connecting rod at it's beginning. This knocking will escalate with use to louder knocking.Take off the cylinder head's cover, the camshafts and the chain tensioner to check them for damage. If they are ok it would be wise to proceed to an overhaul repair and check everything inside and replace the connecting rod with a new one.

SOURCE: how do i jet my crf 250x?

pull the carb, remove the main jet, take to a motorcycle shop and ask for the next size up and the one after that. Replace jet and ride, if it feels better try the next one up and so on until you no longer feel a better result, then go back one.

SOURCE: CRF 250x 2004 Smoking a bit

Besides the worn rings, a cylinder expands when hot adding clearances between cylinder walls and pistons skirting and rings
microgrooves wear into the cylider walls further allwing cp,[pressed gasses and oil to escape and go where they arent wanted, needed, try a thicker oil maybe? as the piston moved up and down the air flow through the engines cases causes blow by or maybe its burning out the pipe as described, high rpms make the engines interior like a little air pump not just in the cylinders but the crankcase as well as the pistioons displacing then rising sucking and so on.

05 cobalt manual oil pumped clogged up, engine almost ran dry. replaced oil and filter and few days later engine started pinging. kinda moderate when idling then very rapid while driving. Wanna do the

pinging is from spontaneous combustion ( detonation) and is from incorrect air /fuel ration and ignition timing. Run fault codes and check knock sensor and MAF/MAP/VAF sensors . Left un- checked it will melt holes in the pistons.

My 2002 2.7 v6 makes a knocking noise while on idol

first, check the oil level, then dump some lucas oil treatment in it. if that doesn't solve it, you may need lifters, or rockers, or cam bearings.

Just bought a brand new 208 honda crf 250x in the fall. only rode it twice before putting it away.. put it in a heated hsowrrom all winter. it always had starting prooblems though.. i ust recently changed...

I am assuming the carb is in good order. Be sure the battery has a good charge and that the spark plug is giving a strong spark. So you have good fuel delivery and good spark, and the air cleaner should be pretty clean. The problem is usually flooding of the engine by twisting the throttle too much, too often. Each twist sends a shot of gas into the chamber. It is pretty easy to flood the engine.

Your right axle-shaft (intermediate-shaft) appears to be the problem here. (The right axle-shaft has a bearing in it that gets bad periodcally).
Remove the wheel cover.
Open up the axle nut side with a flat-end screw driver.
Loosen the front axle nut with the 32mm socket.
Remove the front wheel.
Jack up the car and support it on jack-stands.
Remove the brake calipers and tie it up to the strut-spring.
(Check your engine mount, transmission mount)
Remove the cotter-pin from the tie-rod nut.
Loosen and remove the tie-rod nut.
Pry off the balljoints out of the steering-knuckle(watch-out for the black rubber boot on the tie-rod).
Loosen and remove the strut bolts.
Push out the strut from the steering-knuckle.
Remove the bolts that's holding the bearing on the middle of the shaft-3pieces in all.
Use a large pry-bar to pry off the axle-shaft from its immediate end, or transmission case and flange.
Take out the axle-shaft.
Plug off the axle-shaft hole with a rag to stop oil flow.
Replace the axle shaft with a new one, and tighten the axle-shaft bolts bolts starting with the left bolt first, then the right bolt-second, and the upper bolt-third.
Reverse removal of these steps for installation.
When done: Add the required quantity of fluid/gear-oil to the gear-box to compensate for lost fluid/gear-oil.

How much oil for a 2006 honda crf 250x?

The crankcase oil fill is the dipstick hole on the left side of the engine. It holds .73 quart. The right side fill plug is for the transmission oil. It holds .63 quart. You will need to drain the transmission oil and refill it with the correct amount of oil. The drain is located on the left lower crankcase. It is bolt/washer in the parts diagram of the link below. I recommend you purchase an owners manual or service manual for this bike as this is a high performance model that requires frequent maintenance.
